Kingdom perspective

Glory to God!

These past two weeks the Lord has been speaking to us about living from a kingdom perspective. In his message entitled, "Are you a candidate for God's promotional programme?" Alexander showed us how God wants us to move from a poverty or slave mindset and a settler's mindset to a kingdom mindset. Looking at the parable of the shrewd manager in Luke 16, we noted the following principles for Kingdom living:
  1. Our reputation as God's children is important. (Prov 22:1)
  2. We should not ignore issues but face them. (Rom 4:19)
  3. We should invest in our relationships to enhance them.
  4. We are to be influencers who know their sphere of influence.
  5. We are to be motivators who encourage others.
  6. We are to be faithful stewards of all that God entrusts us with. (Prov 27:23,24)
Alexander encouraged us to seek God's wisdom (Prov 16:16) in order to gain a kingdom perspective (Mk 4:10-13) so that we live the kingdom life wherever we are.

Yesterday's meeting was very exciting as God ministered to us through prophecy, healing, impartation and words of knowledge. It is really wonderful to make space for the Holy Spirit and simply follow His leading. Hallelujah! Richard shared a message entitled, "Are you spiritual?" in which we explored what it means to be led by the Spirit as sons of God (Rom 8:14). Looking at the life of the apostle Paul, Richard showed us that to be led by the Spirit is to be governed by the Spirit and that it is those who are governed by the Spirit that are truly spiritual (see 1 Cor 3:1-3). Being governed by the Spirit of God is responding to the leading of the Holy Spirit and being moved by the reality of God and His Kingdom. Richard showed us that the apostle was spiritual (Spirit-led) in that

  1. Paul lived from his new identity in Christ. 2 Cor 5:17; Gal 2:20
  2. Paul acted on spiritual revelation. Gal 2:1,2
  3. Paul depended on supernatural peace. 2 Cor 2:12,13
  4. Paul followed his specific calling. Rom 1:1
  5. Paul lived by faith. 2 Cor 4:13,14
  6. Paul lived in hope, having an eternal perspective. 2 Cor 4:17,18
  7. Paul lived to please God because of future judgment. 2 Cor 5:9,10
  8. Paul lived in the fear of the Lord. 2 Cor 5:11
  9. Paul was moved by Christ's love and sacrifice. 2 Cor 5:14,15
  10. Paul was obedient to God's commission. 2 Cor 5:20
  11. Paul lived from grace. 2 Cor 6:1,2
As sons of God we are to be led by the Holy Spirit as we follow His leading and respond to the reality of God and His Kingdom in our everyday lives. Hallelujah!

Waiting on God

Glory to God!
Two weeks ago Prem spoke to us about "The godly fear of Jesus," which you can listen to here. In his message, Prem showed us how Jesus walked in the fear of the Lord and the principles we can learn from Christ's example. Looking at Hebrews 5:7; 10:4 and Matthew 26:37-46, we noted the following:

  • The fear of the Lord is not about being afraid of God but of being afraid of being seperated from God and destroying the intimacy the believer enjoys with the Father.
  • The fear of the Lord is about being honest before the Father when the will of the believer differs from that of God.
  • The fear of the Lord is about positioning oneself before the Father to receive the strength to align one's will to His.
  • The fear of the Lord is about being resolute in our convictions and obedient to God's will despite the influence of those around us who seek to move us away from God's will.

On Sunday we rejoiced with those who testified about how God had healed them the previous week during the meeting. We praise God for His healing presence in our meetings and for the powerful work He is doing in our lives!
Richard shared a message entitled "Waiter, waiter" which you can listen to here. In his message, Richard showed us that to worship God is to serve Him (2 Cor. 5:14,15; Heb. 9:13,14; 1 Thess. 1:8-10), to wait on Him (Rom. 8:5) and to serve His people (Heb.6:9; Phil. 2:19-21). He described how God calls us to wait on Him as a waiter waits on the one he serves. We noted that a good waiter is:

  • One who is present and available to serve
  • One who is ready to serve
  • One who meets the needs of the one he serves
  • One who is committed to serve
  • One who serves with a joyful attitude

We praise God for the intimate relationship we can share with Him as we walk in godly fear and live to serve Him and His people.

True Worship

Glory to God!

One of the greatest privileges of every redeemed believer is access to the glory of God. The Lord invites His children to His throne of grace and mercy to encounter Him, to worship Him and to enjoy Him forever. As God reveals Himself to us, we have a choice to respond to Him or exchange the truth of God for a lie (Rom 1:20-25). The true worshipper responds to the revelation of God in repentance by aligning him or herself to his or her knowledge of God.True repentance always leads to action as the believer responds to God, and depends on God to reflect Him. God created man in His image to reflect His glory!

Unless our knowledge of God affects our lives, we are not true worshippers.

As we worshipped God yesterday, the Lord revealed Himself to us and His presence became tangible, causing many to bow down before Him in repentance and adoration. It was an amazing time and the depth of worship was profound. Worship in song led into encountering God in the reading of His Word as Richard and Antje read the testimonies about people of God who encountererd the glory of God and how they responded in repentance, reverence and fear. The passages we looked at were: Exodus 34:5-9; Isaiah 6:1-8; Ezekiel 1:25-28; Daniel 10:4-11, 15-19; Luke 5:4-11; Luke 7:36-38 and Revelation 1:10-18. You can listen to the reading with Rony's instrumental accompaniment followed by the sermon entitled Show me your glory! here.

Community of Love

Glory to God!

Yesterday we had an amazing meeting. God's presence was thick as we worshipped Him. The Lord  ministered to us as we shared communion together and received prophetic words through various people in the meeting. It was very powerful indeed!

As part of the series on Living C.H.U.R.C.H., Richard Morschel spoke to us about being a community that lives in relationship. Looking at Luke 10:25-37, we noted the following:

  • God created man for relationship. Genesis 2:18
  • Man's relationship to God and man is expressed through love. Luke 10:27
  • Jesus uses the parable of the merciful Samaritan to reveal a shift that needs to take place in the heart of man.
  • The expert in the law's question, "Who is my neighbour" reveals a conditional heart that makes love dependent on the neighbour rather than on himself.
  • Jesus exposes the expert in the law's conditional heart and asks, "Which of these three do you think was a neighbour to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?", showing that the responsibility to love one's neighbour is upon us and not dependent upon our neighbour!
  • The parable shows us that we must take up our responsibility to love others and that the nature of God's love is unconditional.
  • The nature of love that is demonstrated differentiates the believer from the unbeliever. John 13:34,35
Conditional Love

The conditional heart says,
  • "My love for you is dependent on you and is your responsibility."
  • (Physical) "I will love you as long as you look good and behave according to my expectations."
  • (Emotons) "I will love you as long as you fulfill my emotional needs."
  • (Mind) "I will love you as long as you agree with me."
  • (Will) "I will love you as long as you do what I want."

The fruit of conditional love

  • Fear of rejection, resulting in insecurity.
  • Fear of punishment for not living up to expectations, resulting in stress.
  • Fear of failure for not performing well enough.
  • Fear of disappointing others.

Unconditional Love

The unconditional heart says, "My love fo you is my responsibility and I choose to love you unconditionally."
  • (Physical) "I will love you despite your appearance and behaviour."
  • (Emotions) "I will love you even if you don't love me."
  • (Mind) "I will love you even if you disagree with me."
  • (Will) "I will love you even if you don't do what I want."

The fruit of unconditional love

  • Peace. Security. Confidence.
  • No fear of punishment.
  • No fear of rejection.
  • No pressure to live up to wrong expectations.
  • No fear of disappointing others.
  • No stress to earn love and approval.

The believer is responsible to love others unconditionally and must learn to receive God's unconditional love to produce the fruit of His love in his or her life. Eph 5:1,2; 1 John 4:7-11

We are looking forward to having Dr Richard Maybery with us this week for our Recovering Lost Ground Conference on Friday and Saturday. For more information click here.

Entering God's Best in 2014

Glory to God!

As we enter 2014, we believe that God wants us to enter His best this year. The Father gave us His Best in Jesus so that we can enjoy fullness of life in Him. However, there are things that hinder us from moving into God's best for us.

Fear
  • Fear of the unknown that keeps us in a "safe" place but is not necessarily God's best for us.
  • Fear of taking responsibility for our lives that causes us to depend on others to make our decisions for us.
  • Fear of making wrong decisions that stop us from making any changes.
  • Fear of rejection or loneliness that stops us from moving with the conviction of the Spirit.
  • Fear of failure that stops us from taking risks or experiencing the things of God that are beyond the familiar.
Inactivity
  • Dreaming without action.
  • Just waiting for God to act.
  • Not appreciating and not using one's God-given gifts.
  • Procrastination - putting off what one can begin with now.
  • Not completing what one has started - saying "I will do it" but either never starting or never completing what one has begun.
Independence
  • Pride - thinking of oneself more highly than one ought to stops us from seeking advice from the Holy Spirit, spiritual leaders and others.
  • Pursuing wrong goals stops us from entering God's best for us.
  • Acting apart from the Body of Christ stops us from entering God's best for our lives as part of the Church.
God does not want us to fear, nor does He want us to move forward independently of Him or His people. He commands us to be very courageous and to depend on Him as we move forward into His best for us this year (see Joshua 1).

The Fear of the Word

Glory to God!

This year the Lord has been speaking to us about what it means to fear Him. We have learned that God created man for three essential purposes - to be like Him (godliness); to know Him (fellowship) and to do His will (co-labour). After the fall of man, man became ungodly, separated from God and unable to produce lasting fruit. Consequently Christ came to both model restored humanity as well as restore man to God's original purposes for man.  Jesus modelled perfect godliness by revealing the Father (John 14:9); perfect fellowship,  being in the Father and He in Jesus (John 14:10) and perfect co-labouring as Jesus only did the will of the Father (John 14:31). Through faith in Christ the believer is born again and restored to God's original purposes for him in Christ. Therefore those who are in Christ, are empowered to be godly (Eph. 4:24; 1 Pet.1:16; 2 Pet. 1:3), are made one with God in true fellowship (1 John 4:15) and are able to co-labour with God to produce lasting fruit (Eph. 2:10; John 15:4,5). These three purposes for man can only be fulfilled as the believer fears God by relying on Him, responding to Him and revering Him.

Yesterday the Lord showed us that those who fear Him will also fear His Word. This is what God says in Isaiah 66:2,

"This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and trembles at my word."

Those who truly fear God will tremble at His Word. That means that those who fear God will fear His Word by relying on God's Word, responding to God's Word and revering God's Word.

The believer fears God's Word when he relies on it as his source for life rather than as a solution for his problems. The Word of God must be the believer's daily bread (Matt. 4:4) and source for godliness (2 Tim. 3:16; Heb. 4:12); victory over the enemy (1 John 2:14; Eph. 6:17) and for life as he meets with the Author (1 John 2:27; John 5:39,40).

The believer fears God's Word when he responds to it in obedience. True humility is dependence on God rather than on self. Those who obey God's Word are relying on God's Word rather than on self. It is these whom God esteems and blesses and whose worship is acceptable to Him (Isaiah 66:3-5). Obedience is the fruit of our fellowship with God (John 15:10; 1 John 2:3-6).

The believer fears God's Word when he reveres it and honours it. Just as the power of God could not be manifested when the Living Word, Jesus was not honoured in His home town, so the Word of God cannot do its work in those who don't revere it as the very words of the Lord (Mark 6:4-6). Those who revere the Word receive it with a humble attitude as the God-breathed communication that has creative power to transform lives (1 Thess. 1:5; 2:13).

We praise God for His awesome revelation to us and for showing us that to fear God is to also fear His Word!

Next month there are quite a few changes to our events, locations and meeting times so please make a note of the following:

Quote of the week:

"This is the one I esteem: he who is humble and contrite in spirit, and who trembles at my word." Isaiah 66:2

Building God's Kingdom

Glory to God!

Yesterday's meeting was buzzing with excitement right from the beginning as we celebrated our King and worshipped Him together. During a very special time with God, He ministered to His people with prophetic words and touched many people who needed healing.

The Lord is speaking to KLF about the fear of the Lord and how His people respond to Him when they fear Him. Motivated by God's love, the Lord is calling the Church to devote herself to God's presence, to God's people and to God's salvation purposes. These 3 p's are the essence of living the Kingdom life.

In response to God's word to us, we are once again emphasising the importance of church membership as an expression of one's devotion to God's presence, people and purposes as well as the importance of belonging to a Life Group to connect with one another, to care for one another, to grow together and influence together.

The Lord then spoke to us about building His Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven and this is what He showed us:

Your Kingdom come!
  • The believer's daily prayer should be for God's Kingdom to come. Matthew 6:10
  • God's Kingdom comes as His will is done on earth as it is in heaven.

The nature of a kingdom
  • A kingdom is made up of a king who rules and the subjects that obey their king.
  • Every person belongs to a kingdom, whether it is the kingdom of Satan, the kingdom of this world, the kingdom of self or the Kingdom of God.
  • Every person has someone sitting on the throne of his life and lives in subjection to that person whether it is Satan, self or God!
  • The one who rules in our lives is the one we subject ourselves to and are obedient to. Eph. 2:1-3
  • Jesus confronted those who claimed to have God on the throne but were subjecting themselves to another. John 8:31-51; Matthew 16:23
  • Jesus expects those who have subjected themselves to His Kingdom to produce the fruit of His Kingdom. Matthew 21:43
  • To worship God is to serve Him in obedience as a subject of His Kingdom. Matthew 4:10; Rom. 1:25; 1 Thess. 1:9

Conflict of the kingdoms
  • Jesus is the King of kings and is Lord of all. However, we do not see everything in subjection to Him yet. Heb. 2:5-8
  • Only those who live in obedience to their King, produce the fruit of the Kingdom.
  • Satan tempts man to disobey God by getting man to do his own will. Eph. 2:1-3; Matthew 16:23
  • The revelation of God's Kingdom requires a response. Either the believer will change the way he thinks and behaves in obedience to God's will or he will disobey and continue to live according to the kingdom of self. Rom. 8:5, 12-14
  • In order not to blatantly disobey God, the believer tries to form another standard that does not accuse his disobedience (an excuse). This standard is self-created and appears spiritual but is contrary to God's revealed will. 1 Sam. 15
  • God wants the believer's obedience and not a self-created "sacrifice" (spiritualised disobedience).

Spiritual Trojans
  • Similarly the kingdom of self can seek to do its will in the church by veiling self with a spiritual appearance (spiritual trojan).
  • Spiritual trojans will only serve in the church if they can do what they want to do and the way they want to do it. When spiritual trojans are corrected or not permitted to do their will, they become offended and accusatory because self cannot get its way.
  • The spiritual servant is willing to serve God and His people in any capacity and without selfish agendas. However the spiritual trojan is only willing to serve on his own terms.

Building God's Kingdom
  • God's Kingdom is established and extended in and through the believer's life as he submits to his King and obeys His will.

The Lord is showing us how our name, Kingdom Life Frankfurt, is both our identity and our purpose - to bring God's Kingdom in Frankfurt as it is in heaven as we live the Kingdom life in obedience to our King.
We are looking forward to our Healing Presence Seminar with Dr Richard Maybery and our joint meeting with Charity Church on the 13th November at Eastsite 15.

Quote of the week:

"Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come,
your will be done on earth as it is in heaven." Matthew 6:9,10

Seeing the invisible

Glory to God!

Yesterday the Lord spoke to us about seeing the invisible and this is what He showed us:

Seeing the invisible
  • God is invisible but His existence is revealed through creation. Rom. 1:20; Col. 1:15
  • God's Kingdom is invisible and can only be seen and entered into by being born again. John 3:3,5
  • It is only by the Spirit of God that the believer can see the invisible realm. 1 Cor. 2:9-14
  • To walk in faith is to walk in response to the eternal, invisible realm of God and His Kingdom. 2 Cor. 4:18
Living from the invisible
  • Moses lived by faith. Heb. 11:24
  • When he had grown up he made a conscious decision to be identified with God rather than the world. Heb. 11:24,25
  • Moses valued the eternal more than the temporary and did not fear the temporary consequences of living for Christ. Heb. 11:25-27
  • Moses continued to live by faith because he saw him who is invisible. Heb. 11:27
  • Those who live from the invisible, because of the invisible and for the invisible, fear the Lord and live by faith. Phil. 3:7-14; 2 Cor. 5:7
Living from eternity
  • To live from God's invisible realm is to live from eternity and manifest God's eternal Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven.
  • The believer's hope of eternity produces faith and love. Col. 1:5
  • God's people are a people of hope who live from the hope they have through Christ - the Hope of glory. Col. 1:27
  • God's people overflow with hope as they trust in God and live from the invisible. Rom. 15:13
We praise God for His amazing revelation to us and for filling us with hope!

From the 15 July to 1 August, pastor Richard will be travelling to the Philippines. KLF is in the process of setting up a ministry on the Island of Butuan that will support the local people and in particular the many street children. Our desire is to impart truth and to meet some of the physical and educational needs of the many orphans and children in the area. You can follow his trip on the Mabini blog - click here...

On the 24 July, KLF will be meeting at the Baptist church, Haeberlinstr.3, in Eschersheim at 15h00 because of the Iron Man event taking place on that day in and around Frankfurt.

Quote of the week:

"May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit." Romans 15:13

Living in revival

Glory to God!

Yesterday the Lord spoke to us about the evidence of a revived heart and this is what He showed us:

  • When people become God-conscious, they begin to respond to God.
  • People who respond to God are being revived as they begin to live in the fear of the Lord.
  • When people are being revived, their hearts are changed toward God.
  • The evidence of a revived heart is the following:
  • The realisation of one's absolute need for God - a life that relies on God as its Source and not just its Solution to live a godly life - living from God. Isaiah 6:1-7; Acts 2:37; Luke 5:1-11; Psalm 63
  • A heart that cries out, "I need you, Lord!"
  • Unless believers realise their need for God, they won't live lives relying on God.
  • The desire to know God more - a life that desires constant communion with God to respond to Him - living because of God. Phil. 3:7-11; Eph. 1:17
  • A heart that cries out, "I want to know you, Lord!"
  • Unless believers desire intimacy and fellowship with God, they won't live lives in response to Him.
  • The desire to do God's will - a life that desires to know God's will to obey it in order to revere God - living for God. Col. 1:9,10; Eph. 5:17
  • A heart that cries out, "I want to do your will, Lord!"
  • Unless believers know God's will they cannot obey Him to honour Him out of their love for Him.
Lives are being revived as we learn to walk in the fear of the Lord. Hallelujah!

Quote of the week:

"O God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life, my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with the richest of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you. On my bed I remember you; I think of you through the watches of the night. Because you are my help, I sing in the shadow of your wings. My soul clings to you; your right hand upholds me." Psalm 63:1-8

Immersed in God!

Glory to God!

We are excited about what God is doing! He is drawing people together from different nations and from different socio-economic circumstances and building a church that is learning to live in the fear of the Lord. Consequently, a Kingdom culture is being developed that manifests God's Kingdom on earth as it is in Heaven and is marked by His presence, power and love! Hallelujah!

Yesterday the Lord spoke to us from Psalm 61 and He showed us how the Psalm reveals the principles of living in the fear of the Lord as He has been teaching us.

Godliness
  • We rely on God by living from God to be like Him. Gal. 5:22,23; 1 Cor. 1:30
  • David sought the Lord because he depended on God completely. Psalm 61:1-3
  • The believer must seek God to be filled with the knowledge of Him rather than the influence of the world!
Fellowship
  • We respond to God by living because of God in obedience to Him out of our fellowship with Him. 1 John 1:5-2:6; Psalm 139
  • David lived in fellowship with God and out of an intimate relationship with Him. Psalm 61:4-7
  • God wants His children to not only know Him but also experience Him!
  • Secret areas in our lives will hinder intimacy with God.
Co-labour
  • We revere God by living for God and doing what pleases Him. 2 Cor. 5:14,15; Rom. 12:1
  • David lived to do God's will and to please Him out of His intimate relationship with God. Psalm 61:8
  • A desire to do the will of God to please Him must come out of the believer's intimate relationship with God and not in order to grow in intimacy with God.

Using the analogy of being at a public pool to describe the Church, God showed us the following:
  • There are those who go to the public pool just to be noticed and seen and never get into the water. These people are at the pool to be seen rather than to experience being in the water.
  • There are those who go to the public pool to spend the day relaxing on the grass but only occasionally get into the water. These people experience a measure of being in the pool but will leave the place if the weather is not suitable to stay.
  • There are those who go to the public pool to swim and be immersed in the water. Those who are in the water are not concerned about what the circumstances are like above the water!
God wants us to be immersed in His presence
so that we experience Him
and live beyond our circumstances!

Many lives were touched again and some people gave their lives to the Lord and some recommitted their lives to Him. These are exciting times! We praise God for "arresting" us until we all understand what it means to live in the fear of the Lord and walk in it!

Quote of the week:

"I long to dwell in your tent forever and take refuge in the shelter of your wings. For you have heard my vows, O God; you have given me the heritage of those who fear your name." Psalm 61:4,5

Walking in faith

Glory to God!

Yesterday God showed us how Abraham feared the Lord and this is what He showed us:
  1. God tests our faith. Gen. 22:1,2; 1 Peter 1:3-7; James 1:2-4; Rom. 5:14; 8:17
  2. Faith does not delay. Gen. 22:3
  3. Faith prepares to obey fully. Gen. 22:3
  4. Faith perseveres. Gen. 22:4
  5. Faith obeys in secret. Gen. 22:5; Matthew 6:1-18
  6. Faith trusts God. Gen. 22:6-8
  7. Faith is continually attentive. Gen. 22:9-11
  8. Faith withholds nothing. Gen. 22:12
  9. Obedience is the evidence of our fear of God and of our faith. Gen. 22:13-18
  10. Obedience results in blessing. Gen. 22:13-18

In the evening we had another opportunity to minister God's truth and love to the poor and homeless and we are witnessing an ever greater response to God's presence, power and love as He shines His light in the darkness. Hallelujah!

We are excited about what is doing in KLF and for the testimonies of lives that are being changed and people recommitting their lives to the Lord. It's wonderful!
Quote of the week:
"Don't lay a hand on the boy!" the angel said. "Do not hurt him in any way, for now I know that you truly fear God. You have not withheld from me even your son, your only son." Gen. 22:12 (emphasis mine)

Living in response to God

Glory to God!

Yesterday was very special as the Lord invited us to have fellowship with Him in worship and Communion. We spent time simply enjoying God's presence, making room for Him to minister to us and realising our union with Him. Hallelujah!

The Lord spoke to us about living in faith and how it relates to living in the fear of the Lord. This is what He showed us:

  • Both living in the fear of the Lord and living in faith are the believer's response to God. Heb. 11:7
  • The believer can believe that Jesus exists and is present but still not respond to Him in faith!
  • To live in faith is to rely on the presence of Jesus. When the disciples were caught in a storm on the lake and Jesus slept in the boat, they were afraid even though Jesus was with them because the did not have faith and rely on Jesus. Mark 4:35-41
  • To live in faith is to respond to the presence of Jesus. The woman who suffered from bleeding was the only one in the crowd that received healing from Jesus because in faith she responded to His presence. Mark 5:24-32
  • To live in faith is to revere the presence of Jesus. When Jesus came to His hometown He could not do many miracles because the people became familiar with Him and did not honour and revere Him. Unbelief is opposite to the reverence that comes from faith! Mark 6:1-6
  • Paul exhorts the Corinthians to test whether they are in the faith and to see whether their lives are a response to Jesus in them. 2 Cor. 13:5

We praise God for His revelation to us!

On Saturday, Alexander Blair led a one day seminar on Prophecy and many were blessed as they were taught, trained and equipped in the basics of prophecy. We are excited about what God is developing in KLF and for the school of prophecy that He is leading us to start to help the Body of Christ in Frankfurt to have a biblical and spiritual foundation in the prophetic.

Our small team from KLF is presently in India for a two week missionary trip to support and be part of the work and evangelistic meetings that Hermon Living Water Ministries is heading (more info here...). People are being saved and healed as they encounter the presence of God and hear the Good news. One man came to one of the evangelistic meetings dragging himself on his hands in the morning and in the evening he walked on stage! Yesterday the team baptised 126 people who had counted the cost to follow Jesus and decided to live their lives in response to Him! Glory to God!

Quote of the week:

"Examine yourselves to see whether you are in the faith; test yourselves. Do you not realise that Christ Jesus is in you - unless, of course, you fail the test?" 2 Cor. 13:5

Walking with God

Glory to God!

On Sunday the Lord spoke to us about reflecting His presence in the difficult and troubled times that the world is increasingly finding itself in. Looking at the example of Noah, the Lord showed us how Noah feared the Lord. This is what God showed us:

  • Noah's faith influenced his life as he aligned himself to God and His purposes.
  • Noah was spiritually aligned and therefore mentally focused, emotionally connected and physically engaged.
  • Noah's faith came out of his walk with God as he lived his life in the fear of the Lord.

As the Day of the Lord hastens on, the Church must reflect the presence of God as she walks in the fear of the Lord and lives by faith.

We praise God for continuing to teach us to fear Him. Lives are being changed in His presence and we are excited about the ever-increasing manifestation of His presence, power and love! Hallelujah! This Saturday Alexander Blair will be leading a Prophecy Seminar. For more info click here

Quote of the week:

"By faith Noah, when warned about things not yet seen, in holy fear built an ark to save his family. By his faith he condemned the world and became heir of the righteousness that comes by faith." Hebrews 11:7

Imitating Christ

Glory to God!

As we continue to learn about what it means to fear the Lord we are increasingly experiencing God's tangible presence! Hallelujah! Yesterday the Lord showed us how Jesus feared God while He was on earth.
  • Jesus "made himself nothing" to model the life that the sons of God are to live on earth. Phil. 2:6-8; Heb. 2:14,17
  • Jesus lived as a man on earth in complete dependency on God the Father and God the Holy Spirit. Luke 4:14,18,19; John 5:19, 30; 8:27-29; John 14:9,10; Acts 10:38
  • As followers of Christ, we are to be like Jesus. John 17:18; 1 John 2:6; 1 Cor. 11:1; 1 Peter 2:21; Eph. 5:1,2
  • Jesus as the Son of man, feared God. Isaiah 11:1-3
  • Jesus relied on the Father, responded to the Father and revered the Father.
  • Jesus lived from the Father, because of the Father and for the Father.
  • Jesus lived to reveal the Father (godliness) and to be in communion with the Father (fellowship) to do the Father’s work (co-labour).
  1. Jesus spent time with the Father. He went to a solitary place. Luke 4:42; 6:12,13; Mt 6:6
  2. Jesus communed with the Father continuously (Father-conscious). John 8:29; 11:41,42
  3. Jesus never lived independently of the Father. John 8:42
  4. Jesus watched what the Father was doing. John 5:19,20
  5. Jesus listened to the Father. John 5:30; 8:26
  6. Jesus only spoke the will of the Father. John 7:16-18; 14:24; John 12:49
  7. Jesus obeyed the Father. John 8:55; Heb. 5:8-10; Matthew 26:39
  8. Jesus lived to please the Father and not man. John 5:44; 8:29

Looking at the account of Jesus' raising Lazarus from the dead, the Lord showed us how Jesus lived in the fear of the Lord. John 11:1-44

  • Jesus did not react to circumstances but depended on the Father's will and timing. John 11:4-8
  • Jesus lived in the light of the presence and knowledge of the Father. John 11:9,10
  • Martha had faith for the past and faith for the future but Jesus wanted her to have faith for the present to be able to see God's presence and glory. John 11:21-26
  • Jesus said, "I am the Resurrection and the Life"; the One who is now! Jesus wants His people to be aware of His present reality and presence.
  • Just as Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, so the believer is resurrected spiritually. John 11:43,44
  • Even those who have been born again may still need to be released from bondage just as Lazarus had to be loosed from his grave clothes. John 11:44
  • Jesus demonstrated a life that responded to the "invisible". Heb. 11:27
  • Likewise, the believer who fears the Lord will have changed his life motive from self to God.
  • To live in the fear of the Lord is to therefore live in God-consciousness rather than self consciousness and live in the awareness of God and His Kingdom (the invisible).
To grow in the fear of the Lord, the believer must follow the example of Christ and,
  1. Spend time with God. Matthew 6:6
  2. Grow in God-consciousness. Psalm 139
  3. Stop living independently. 2 Cor. 5:15
  4. Be alert to what God is doing. Eph. 5:15-18
  5. Be alert to hear what God is saying. John 10:3
  6. Find out God’s will to speak it. 1 Peter 4:11
  7. Find out God’s word to obey it. Rom. 12:1,2; James 1:22
  8. Live to please the Father. Eph. 5:10
God's presence was wonderful yesterday and people received life and were set free as the Holy Spirit ministered to us. Glory to God!

This Saturday, Voice in the City (Suzette Hattingh and Gayle Claxton) have organised a meeting to encourage and equip the saints and we are looking forward to a powerful time in God's presence. For more info click here...

We are also looking forward to an exciting seminar on prophecy and the prophetic that will be led by Alexander Blair on the 26th February. For more info click here...

Quote of the week:

"A shoot will come up from the stump of Jesse;
from his roots a Branch will bear fruit.
The Spirit of the LORD will rest on him —
the Spirit of wisdom and of understanding,
the Spirit of counsel and of might,
the Spirit of the knowledge and fear of the LORD —
and he will delight in the fear of the LORD." Isaiah 11:1-3
