Dancing with God

Glory to God!

Just as Isaiah received revelation of God's holiness and glory, so the Lord ushered us into His presence as we worshipped Him yesterday. The Holy Spirit seemed to fill the room with His presence and holiness so that we continued in worship that led to approaching God's throne in repentance, commitment, and touching "the train of His robe" (see Isaiah 6:1-8). It was a very powerful time indeed!

The Lord is speaking to us about maturing in Christ. Following on from his sermon last week, Richard shared a message entitled, "Dancing with God." Looking at Galatians 5:16-25, we noted that in order to live in the Spirit and keep in step with Him, the believer must begin with the Spirit to overcome the flesh. Using the example of a couple dancing to demonstrate how God wants us to learn to keep in step with Him, Richard explained the principle of P.D.F. - position, deny and follow. Keeping in step with the Holy Spirit and dancing with Him, requires us to position ourselves in such a way as to be aware of Him; to deny ourselves in order to move with His will and to follow His leading as we trust Him. As we apply PDF to our daily lives, we learn to remain in the Lord and keep in step with Him so that He can lead us even into unknown "dances" or realms where we experience an even greater measure of His glory. Hallelujah!

Mature in Christ

Glory to God!

These past two weeks, the Lord has been speaking to us about spiritual maturity. In his message entitled, "Building right foundations," Alexander spoke to us about the need for the believer to have strong foundations in order to grow to maturity. Looking at what it means to build our lives on the bedrock of Christ, he showed us that we must live in relationship with Jesus and align ourselves to Him and His Word (Luke 6:46-49). Alexander also described the evidence of immaturity that include:
  • being dull of hearing
  • lethargy, lack of drive, stagnation
  • taking no responsibility
  • being self-focused
  • not participating or adding value but just consuming
  • lack of discernment
  • instability
  • not keeping spiritually fit
  • disobedience
  • compromise
A life built on the Rock will grow to maturity and withstand the storms of life.

We are excited about new Life Groups that have started and will be starting in the next weeks. These small groups that meet at various people's homes in and around Frankfurt are instrumental in building community and helping our people stay connected, care for one another, grow in their relationship with God, discover and exercise their gifts and learn to be light in the world.

A couple Sundays ago, a KLF team of 10 people were invited to minister at the EFG Frankfurt-Nordwest. Our team led the worship, shared God's Word and ministered prophetically during and after the meeting. It was a very special time as we experienced God's presence and power and many were visibly touched by the Father's love. It was also a powerful opportunity to demonstrate the unity of the Body of Christ in Frankfurt and to witness the spiritual reality of God's anointing upon unity (Psalm 133).

On Saturday evening was another Proverbs and Jazz event at the Awake Café. Alexander and Natalie, together with Guardians of Jazz, hosted a wonderful evening of short input that provided food for thought, excellently played Jazz, and 2 artisitic presentations. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting and provided a great opportunity to connect with others and bring non-Christians into a non-churchy, spiritual environment.

Yesterday was another special time in God's presence as we worshipped and encountered God together. In his message entitled, "Wanted: Dead and Alive!" Richard spoke to us about what it means to be mature in Christ. This is what he showed us:

  • God wants us to become mature. Eph 4:11-13
  • Maturity means being Christ-like. 1 Jn 2:6
  • Christ-likeness means being conformed to Christ in His death and resurrection. Rom 6:2-14
  • God is looking for a people who carry both the death and life of Christ. Jn 12:24-26; 2 Cor 4:10; Phil 3:10,11
  • By faith we put sin to death so that the life of Christ will be revealed in and through us. Rom 6:12,13; Col 3:5-11
  • The road to maturity is perseverance. James 1:2-4
  • Perseverance is remaining unmoved under the influence of God. Eph 4:14
  • You are wanted: dead and alive! Rom 6:11
Those who persevere, who remain unmoved by faith in Christ's death and resurrection, grow to maturity! Hallelujah!

Building God's House

Glory to God!

God is building His house! In his message entitled, "Living Bethels for God," Alexander spoke to us a couple of Sundays ago about Jacob's encounter with the Lord in Genesis 28:10-19. Looking at the account, Alexander showed us how God is building His house, the Church, to be a house of prayer, a house of encounter, a house of God's presence, a house of worship under an open heaven, a house established upon God's Word and a house that attracts angelic activity.

We are on an exciting journey of discovering our identity in Christ as God's house, His people, the Church, and what that means for each of us in our daily lives. As identity determines responsibility, we are seeing what God expects of us as we understand who He has created us to be in Christ!

As a growing church we are faced with the challenge of building community with a people from many different nationalities, cultures, backgrounds, and walks in life that congregate on a Sunday from far and near. In order to facilitate growth, connectivity, care, fellowship, use of gifts, strengthening of relationships, spiritual growth, discipleship, etc. we believe our people need to meet together in small groups during the week. For this purpose we are emphasising and establishing Life Groups across Frankfurt and surrounding region where people meet at someone's home in groups of 10 -15 people to encourage one another, care for one another, worship and pray together and explore God's Word together.  Life Groups are a wonderful way to become a significant part of the church and the fulfillment of God's vision for His people.

In order to give our people a taste of what Life Groups are like, we decided to surprise the church and have the entire worship service in the coffee area at KLF. We arranged the tables and chairs for people to sit in groups of 8 people; Antje and Cyrus led the worship as we sang from prepared song sheets, Richard shared a message, translated by Vicky and had sheets prepared for everyone to take notes. Every table was led by a table host who then led a time for discussion with questions relating to the sermon that was then followed by sharing the Lord's Supper together around each table. Alexander then wrapped everything up, explaining the importance of Life Groups and why we decided to surprise the church with a different form of meeting. Everyone was positively surprised and enjoyed our unusual church meeting very much.

In his message, entitled, "The Law of Christ," Richard spoke to us about why God expects us to love one another. Richard showed us 10 reasons why believers should love one another:

  1. Jesus commands us to love one another. Jn 13:34
  2. It is God's nature in whose image we are made. 1 Jn 4:8
  3. God loved us first. 1 Jn 4:19
  4. It proves that Jesus came and that the Father loves us. Jn 17:23
  5. It is the fruit of the Gospel - the evidence that we have been united to Christ. Col 1:3-6; Jn 13:35
  6. It assures us of our salvation. 1 Jn 4:16-18
  7. It reveals the fulfilment of God's reconciliatory purposes in Christ. Col 1:19,20
  8. It should be our highest goal. 1 Cor 14:1
  9. It benefits others. Gal 6:2
  10. It leads to maturity in Christ. Eph 4:1-16

As Alexander pointed out, God is shifting KLF from the inner sanctuary into the outer courts and beyond as we seek to reach up, reach in and reach out to fulfill God's vision for the church which is Christ! Hallelujah!
