Preparing for Revival!

As the Lord continues to prepare us for revival, He is speaking to us about our identity and purpose in Christ as believers and as the Church. God is taking us on an exciting journey and He is helping us to understand our destination and how we can get there together.

In his message, entitled, "Sons or Servants," Alex spoke to us about the difference between an Old Testament mindset and a New Testament mindset concerning our relationship with God. Looking at Hebrews 3:1-6, we saw how faithfulness and commitment are key attitudes that reveal a Kingdom mindset but that our motivation is determined by how we see ourselves - whether as servants or sons in God's House. Alex explained the difference between the two, comparing employees to investors, a thermometer to a thermostat and the old covenant to the new covenant as they relate to our identity, status and work ethics in life.

In her message, entitled, "Created for God's Purpose," Elizabeth spoke to us about God's purpose for our lives. Looking at Jeremiah's call to be a prophet in Jeremiah 1:4-13, we saw how God gave Jeremiah His approval, how God anointed him, how God gave Jeremiah authority and appointed him to fulfil his purpose as he was given access to God's promises and came into agreement with God's word over his life. Consequently, Jeremiah was able to step into God's position for him and was given the power to "Build up and tear down." Elizabeth challenged us and encouraged us to recognise that as we step into God's calling on our lives that there will be a time of preparation and practice but that God watches over us and His word so that what He has promised will be fulfilled.

Podcast: due to technical issues we do not have a recording of Elizabeth's message.

These past few Sundays, Richard has been speaking to us about the journey God is taking us on as a church. In his first message entitled, "Are we there yet?" we looked at Ephesians 4:1-16 and concluded that since Paul describes the church as a people in relationship, a people committed to one another and Christ's purposes, a people joined together as one body with a diversity of members, a people equipped to reach "fullness in Christ" and do the very works of Jesus, that our destination as a church is to be "a community of love, equipped to be like Christ and do His works."

Having spoken to us about our destination as a church, Richard then showed us how God wants us to reach it. In his message entitled, "The Anointing," Richard took us to 1 Corinthians 12:12 & 13 to explain how just as Jesus Christ, the Anointed One depended completely on the Holy Spirit to fulfil His purpose on earth, so believers are anointed by God to be like Christ and do His works. Looking at the significance of what it means to be anointed, we saw that God has set His seal of ownership on us, set us apart to live for Him and His purposes and empowered us by the Holy Spirit to do immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine. Richard showed us, however, that unless we learn to drink and be filled with the Holy Spirit we will not make it to our destination.

As we were not able to have our regular church meeting this Sunday, Richard and Frances produced a short video in which Richard shared a message entitled, "Think Church!" Using the analogy of a jigsaw puzzle, Richard showed us from Romans 12 that just as any scripture in the Bible can only really be understood in context, so our lives as believers only develop meaning in the context of the Body of Christ. Richard encouraged us to be transformed by the renewing of our minds (Rom 12:2) as we take hold of the truth that each one of us is a significant part of the church.

It is important to our leadership, to help everyone who is part of Kingdom Life to continue to feel connected to our church family and be part of what God is saying to us and doing with us. For this purpose we have started several Connect Groups where people are meeting in small groups within the Corona regulations. These are vital for the life of the church and we praise God for what He is doing in these small groups as people discuss what God is saying to us, encourage one another and pray for another. In addition to meeting together, we are using our weekly pep-talks to not only encourage everyone in their walk with God but to also provide an opportunity for our members to use their gifts to encourage the church.

What is in your hand? Natalie encourages us to use what God has given us to serve Him and His purposes.

Keep your love on!

Glory to God!

In response to God's word to us for this year, we are looking at ways to put reconciliation into practice and are studying Danny Silk's book entitled, Keep your love on!" together as a church. Last week we began our 6-week study by preaching on key themes from the book, meeting together in small groups to discuss the book and encouraging one another to strengthen our relationships, improve our communication and learn to set healthy boundaries. We are excited about the enthusiasm and involvement of almost the entire church and we are confident that these 6 weeks will be extremely helpful for every one of us to learn to connect and love better.

Three Sundays ago, Alexander shared a message entitled, "The power of choice" in which he compared the lives of Jesus and Judas to identify what makes people live powerful and victorious lives or powerless lives as victims. Looking at how Jesus was intentional about His choices and how He took responsibility for every choice He made, we noted how powerful people live and serve others in humility to empower others. Conversely we saw how Judas lived a powerless life as a consumer that led to his turning his back on his Master because he himself became mastered by selfishness, disillusionment, disappointment and greed. Alexander explored the glorious truth that just as the believer is chosen by God, so every person has the power to choose God and others to be reconciled, connected and to keep one's love on.

Two Sundays ago, Richard encouraged us to make sure that we not only go through the book but that we use the 6 weeks to learn the principles in Danny Silk's book in such a way as to understand, relate to and apply the principles to our lives. In his message entitled, "The evidence of love" Richard showed us in John's first letter how John describes those who have received eternal life and what the evidence that accompanies salvation should be. In particular, Richard pointed out the difference between knowing about the Father's love and actually receiving His love in such a way that it influences one's life (see 1 Jn 2:15,16). Just as the apostle Paul rejoiced in seeing the fruit of the Gospel, so John's concern was that the Gospel was bearing fruit in the lives of the believers (see 1 Thess 1:2-10; 1 Jn 5:13). Richard then spoke to us about how love must replace fear in our relationships since perfect love drives out the fear of punishment (1 Jn 4:16-19; Lk 7:36-50).

Last Sunday, Frances spoke to us about the "Foundation of Healthy Relationships" as we looked at our core needs that can only be met in relationship. Frances showed us that the core needs of love and acceptance, security and significance that make up our identity were affected through the Fall leaving mankind with a void that can only be filled with God. We saw how God as a relational Being, created mankind for relationship and how we need God and one another to live godly lives in His image. Frances showed us how God satisfies our core needs and how we need to develop relational core values that help us strengthen our relationships.

We praise God for teaching us how to strengthen our relationships, improve our communication and build healthy boundaries as we allow the Holy Spirit to lead us and learn new tools to keep our love on. Hallelujah!

Step through, step in, step up!

Glory to God!

As we continue on this exciting journey of transformation, God is calling us to step through, step in and step up: to step through discouragement, to step into our own shoes and to step up to our high calling as the revelation of God's image.

Step through! In his message entitled, "Staying the course when discouraged," Alexander showed us how discouragement comes about and how the believer can overcome it. Looking at Nehemiah 4:1-3, we saw how the enemy tries to discourage God's people when they set their hearts on transformation and stepping into God's purposes for their lives. Alexander shared how discouragement comes through ridicule, fatigue, frustration and fear but that believers can overcome discouragement by focusing on God rather than on man, seeking God to be strengthened, seeing God's perspective and depending on God's unfailing love.

Step in! A couple of weeks ago we had the joy of having Gayle Claxton from Voice in the City minister to us. In her message entitled, "These are my shoes - it's my walk," Gayle shared how transition in one's life can be the place of greatest distraction and stagnation if we don't understand and deal with the challenges we face with God's perspective.  Looking at the example of John the Baptist, Gayle showed us what it means to be great in God's eyes. She showed us that every one of us can stand out, stand up and stand strong when we step into our unique God-given identity, calling and anointing. With personal and practical examples, Gayle showed us how to navigate through transition God's way so that nothing stops us from fulfilling God's call on our lives. In response to Gayle's message many came forward for a powerful time of prayer and ministry.

On Saturday we had our first Worship Night at our new office space in Hausen where around 25 people joined together with our worship team to spend time in God's presence and worship Him. It was a very powerful and intimate time with the Lord and we look forward to having these special times with God more regularly.

Step up! On Sunday Richard shared a message entitled, "A sign and a symbol," in which he showed us how God wants us to step up to our high calling of being a sign and a symbol that points to God and represents Him. Looking at Isaiah 8:18 and Heb 2:11-13, we saw how the Church is to reflect God's image as family and that He is redeeming and restoring His image through the Church. Richard showed us how satan seeks to distort God's image as Creator, Father, Bridegroom and Family by perverting man's understanding of his origin, gender, marriage and family! The Fall and the enemy have veiled God's image but it is through Christ that the revelation of God's image is redeemed and restored so that His people, the Church, God's family become a sign and a symbol that points to God and represents His true image.

Christ's Passion for His Church

Glory to God!

In this year of transformation, we are seeing how God wants to bring reversal into our lives, the Church and our cities. As we continue on this powerful journey of repentance during our 180 days of prayer for 180° reversal, we are seeing how God is revealing His love to us in an even greater measure. Just as the apostle Paul was compelled by Christ's love to lay down his own life to serve the Lord, His people and His purposes, so the Lord is stirring us to repentance and action as we grasp the depth of Christ's love for us.

We are excited about this season we are in where God is adding to our number, more young people are joining us, the church is getting together during the week, and different types of meetings are being organised for people to grow in their relationship with God and one another.

Two weeks ago Tobias shared a message entitled, "The two sacrifices" in which he spoke to us about the difference between Cain and Abel's sacrifices. Looking at the account in Genesis 4:2-12, Tobias showed us how Abel's sacrifice foreshadowed Christ as the sacrificial Lamb of God, whom God would accept on behalf of mankind. Whilst Cain's sacrifice points to man's effort to attain righteousness apart from Jesus, Abel's sacrifice points to the righteousness that is found by faith in Christ's sacrifice. Just as God looked upon Abel and his offering with favour (Gen 4:4), so the Father looks upon His Son and His sacrifice with favour. Even though "by faith Abel offered God a better sacrifice than Cain did" and "By faith he was commended as a righteous man, when God spoke well of his offerings. And by faith he still speaks, even though he is dead," the blood of Jesus "speaks a better word than the blood of Abel" (Heb 11:4; 12:24)! In response, Tobias' Life Group shared Scriptures and the Lord's Supper with the church that developed into a very precious time of worship that went beyond the conclusion of the meeting! God is stirring His people with His love!

On Sunday, after another powerful time in worship and sharing Communion together, Richard spoke to us about "Christ's passion for His Church." Looking at the seven letters to the seven churches as recorded in Revelation chapters two and three, Richard showed us that the reason Jesus wants His Church to overcome is because He is passionate about His people. Christ's Word to the churches reveals that He wants to be her first love (Rev 2:3-5); He wants His people to be with Him for eternity (Rev 2:10); He wants to confide in us (Rev 2:17); He wants to entrust us with authority (Rev 2:26); He wants to honour us (Rev 3:4,5); He wants to establish us in Him (Rev 3:11,12) and He wants to share everything with us (Rev 3:20,21). It is therefore not surprising that the apostle Paul prays that the Church would have the power to grasp "how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ, and to know this love that surpasses knowledge" (Eph 3:18,19) because it should compel us to live for God, His people and His salvation purposes! Hallelujah!

The Glory of Christ!

Glory to God!

As a church, we are on a journey of repentance - 180 days of prayer for 180° reversal! During these days of prayer and reflection, God has recently been speaking to us about the nature and glory of the Church. With the daily devotionals that Richard is writing and what is being shared on a Sunday, the Lord is bringing reversal in our thinking as we align ourselves to God's Word and revelation. We are being encouraged, challenged and stretched as God transforms us with His presence, truth and power! Hallelujah!

A couple of Sundays ago, Richard shared a message entitled, "Is your church on TripAdvisor?" In his sermon, Richard challenged us to see whether we approach Church like a restaurant or whether we understand God's view of the Church. As he compared "McChurch" to the true Church, Richard showed us that the Church should not be treated like a restaurant but as God has birthed her and purposed her in Christ. Looking at the analogies used in the Bible to describe the Church, such as branches in the Vine (John 15), a building whose architect is God (1 Cor 3; Eph 2:21,22; Heb 3:1-6; 1 Pet 2:4,5), the human body (1 Cor 12:12-27) and a nation that belongs to God (1 Pet 2:9,10), we learned that each have the following in common: Dependance on Christ, connection, equality, significant members, and purpose. The answer to the question whether our church is on TripAdvisor was therefore answered with a clear, "No!" as we are not a McChurch that is evaluated according to what customers think but we are the glory of Christ, the revelation of Jesus to the world!

On Saturday we had a brilliant time together at the Naturfreundehaus in Niederrad. We got together for a fun afternoon and evening of games, coffee and cake, fellowship, grilling, open stage, face painting, praise and worship and more; simply enjoying each other and getting to know each other better. We were even joined by local refugee kids who felt quite at home with us and played with the other children and even joined us during praise and worship. We loved the location and are sure to meet there again in the Summer next year! Thanks to all who organised and contributed toward the wonderful time we had together!

Having celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary last week, Richard spoke to us on Sunday about the relationship and profound connection between marriage and the Church. In his sermon entitled, "Strong marriage, strong church!" Richard gave us four keys to a strong marriage and thus to a strong church as we looked at Ephesians 5:21-33. Based on their own experience as a couple, Richard shared what he and Frances have learned over the years that has helped them to have a good marriage. The four keys are Commitment, that is rooted in living in covenant, Consideration, Communication and Compassion. All four are essential for a strong marriage and a strong church! We had a lot of fun exploring each key and learning how important each key is for marriage and for the Church to reflect Christ.

Sprinkled, dipped or dunked?

Glory to God!

As we continue on our journey of 180 days of prayer for 180° reversal, we are excited to see how God is moving among us and bringing about change in this year of transformation. With daily devotionals, Richard is encouraging us to pray God's Word so that there is an alignment with God's will and purposes. If you want to receive the 180 days daily devotional, please write to pastor@kingdomlife-frankfurt.com.

Two Sundays ago, Alexander shared a message entitled, "Standing your ground" in which he spoke to us from Mark 4:35-41. Looking at the account of Jesus calming the storm and the sea, Alexander showed us how Jesus responded to the storm as an example for us to know how to stand our ground in difficult circumstances. We saw how believers must learn to stand on God's Word, recognising which season they are in, the state of their emotional health, who is pulling with them and how they must wake up, stand up, face the circumstances and speak God's truth. Alexander encouraged us to trust God to take us to the other side in the face of the storms we experience in life. Hallelujah!

Yesterday was a very special day for 6 new creations in Christ whom we baptised at the Bärensee in Hanau after our afternoon service. In preparation for the evening, Richard shared a message in the afternoon, entitled, "Sprinkled, dipped or dunked?" Looking at 3 scenes in the Scriptures, Richard showed us the significance of baptism and explained why the believer should be dunked rather than sprinkled or dipped! The 3 examples Richard shared are the Exodus (1 Cor 10:1-4); the Cross (Rom 6:3-13) and Marriage (1 Cor 12:12,13; Eph 5:31,32). After explaining that baptism does not save the believer but that it is the first step of obedience after faith and repentance, Richard used the 3 examples to show us that baptism symbolises the believer's leaving the kingdom of darkness and being placed in the Kingdom of Light; leaving the old life of sin to living for God and leaving the old "single" life to be united to Christ and the Church. Using 3 kinds of donuts; sprinkled, dipped and dunked, Richard made it clear that only complete immersion in the waters of baptism demonstrate the reality of a life immersed into Christ. Consequently we were challenged to consider whether our lives as believers and as the Church reveal that we have been truly immersed in Christ and His Body or whether our lives look like we have only been sprinkled or dipped! We praise God for His revelation to us and our prayer is that our lives would reflect the baptised life, fully dunked in Jesus and the Church!

God blessed us with amazing weather yesterday and we were able to enjoy the baptisms in the lake with a large group of friends and family. It was the first time KLF had her baptisms at a lake and it proved to be a very special and powerful time in the presence of many onlookers who witnessed the testimony of people who have committed their lives to Jesus and are completely immersed in Him and His people. After Alexander, Elizabeth and Richard baptised our 6 precious people, we returned to the campground chapel where we prayed for them. The perfect evening continued with fellowship and food at the local restaurant. Special thanks go to Nat and Gordana who had prepared the chapel so beautifully and to all those who joined us to celebrate this very special occasion!

Prayer and Fasting

Photo by Joshua Hanks on Unsplash

Glory to God!

We have completed the first 7 days of our 21 days of prayer and fasting. The focus during these 3 weeks is to reach up, reach in and reach out, respectively. To help us on our journey to transformation, Richard is sending a daily devotional from the Book of Nehemiah in which we follow the example of Nehemiah and how he, together with the people of Israel, rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem. You can read the 21-day devotional here.

During this second week of our fasting and praying we will be focusing on reaching in. This means praying for the Church and joining other believers in intercession to rebuild walls in our church and the Body of Christ in Frankfurt. We are excited to be be part of a joint prayer meeting on Wednesday evening at 19:30 at KLF together with many other churches in Frankfurt. It will be a powerful time of worship and intercession as we seek God and stand in the gap together.

Already during our pre-meeting prayer yesterday, we sensed an increase in spiritual dynamic as we worshipped and sought God for the meeting. Prayer and fasting makes us more sensitive to God, more focused in prayer and empowers us to bring heaven on earth! Consequently the meeting was powerful as we worshipped and as God spoke to us through prophetic words and the preaching of His Word. In his message, entitled, "Warring with your prophetic word", Alexander spoke to us about how we need to apply God's prophetic words given to us in our lives so that we will be established (2 Chronicles 20:20). Rather than seeking prophets to get another word from God that we forget, Alexander challenged us to remember the prophetic words given to us and to decree and declare God's Word over our lives (1 Sam 17:41-47); discern and desire the fulfilment of God's Word (Dan 9:1-3) and allow God to develop and discipline us as we depend on Him and His Word (1 Tim 4:14; 2 Pet 1:5-8). We praise God for the transforming power of His Word and that He wants to establish us as we believe His prophets and apply His Word to our lives!

Building God's House

Glory to God!

God is building His house! In his message entitled, "Living Bethels for God," Alexander spoke to us a couple of Sundays ago about Jacob's encounter with the Lord in Genesis 28:10-19. Looking at the account, Alexander showed us how God is building His house, the Church, to be a house of prayer, a house of encounter, a house of God's presence, a house of worship under an open heaven, a house established upon God's Word and a house that attracts angelic activity.

We are on an exciting journey of discovering our identity in Christ as God's house, His people, the Church, and what that means for each of us in our daily lives. As identity determines responsibility, we are seeing what God expects of us as we understand who He has created us to be in Christ!

As a growing church we are faced with the challenge of building community with a people from many different nationalities, cultures, backgrounds, and walks in life that congregate on a Sunday from far and near. In order to facilitate growth, connectivity, care, fellowship, use of gifts, strengthening of relationships, spiritual growth, discipleship, etc. we believe our people need to meet together in small groups during the week. For this purpose we are emphasising and establishing Life Groups across Frankfurt and surrounding region where people meet at someone's home in groups of 10 -15 people to encourage one another, care for one another, worship and pray together and explore God's Word together.  Life Groups are a wonderful way to become a significant part of the church and the fulfillment of God's vision for His people.

In order to give our people a taste of what Life Groups are like, we decided to surprise the church and have the entire worship service in the coffee area at KLF. We arranged the tables and chairs for people to sit in groups of 8 people; Antje and Cyrus led the worship as we sang from prepared song sheets, Richard shared a message, translated by Vicky and had sheets prepared for everyone to take notes. Every table was led by a table host who then led a time for discussion with questions relating to the sermon that was then followed by sharing the Lord's Supper together around each table. Alexander then wrapped everything up, explaining the importance of Life Groups and why we decided to surprise the church with a different form of meeting. Everyone was positively surprised and enjoyed our unusual church meeting very much.

In his message, entitled, "The Law of Christ," Richard spoke to us about why God expects us to love one another. Richard showed us 10 reasons why believers should love one another:

  1. Jesus commands us to love one another. Jn 13:34
  2. It is God's nature in whose image we are made. 1 Jn 4:8
  3. God loved us first. 1 Jn 4:19
  4. It proves that Jesus came and that the Father loves us. Jn 17:23
  5. It is the fruit of the Gospel - the evidence that we have been united to Christ. Col 1:3-6; Jn 13:35
  6. It assures us of our salvation. 1 Jn 4:16-18
  7. It reveals the fulfilment of God's reconciliatory purposes in Christ. Col 1:19,20
  8. It should be our highest goal. 1 Cor 14:1
  9. It benefits others. Gal 6:2
  10. It leads to maturity in Christ. Eph 4:1-16

As Alexander pointed out, God is shifting KLF from the inner sanctuary into the outer courts and beyond as we seek to reach up, reach in and reach out to fulfill God's vision for the church which is Christ! Hallelujah!

Abundant Grace!

Glory to God!

The Lord is establishing our identity as new creations in Christ, both individually and corporately as the Body of Christ. As identity determines responsibility, it is clear that God wants us to grasp what it means to live as sons and daughters of the King and as His holy and chosen people, the Church!

In his message entitled, "Release the handbrake,"  Richard spoke to us about how God wants His grace to reign in our lives. Looking at Romans 4:25 - 5:2 and 5:20,21; Richard showed us how, through faith in Christ, the believer is made righteous and therefore has access to God's abundant grace. This grace is the realm of God that is beyond anything we can ask for or imagine that God makes available to His children to live in. Just as sin ruled in our lives when we were separated from God, so grace can reign now that we are joined to God through righteousness in Christ. Hallelujah! Richard also showed us that many still allow their old way of thinking to hinder them from moving forward in their new identity in Christ. Releasing the handbrake is about letting go of the past, letting go of old patterns of thinking, ceasing to believe the lies of the enemy, and letting go of unbelief in God's truth. Once the believer establishes his or her righteousness in Christ, God's grace and the "huperballo" (beyond the boundary) realm of His Kingdom can reign in the believer's life so that we participate in the divine nature (see 2 Peter 1:3,4; 1 Cor. 2:12; Rom 5:9,10, 17, 21; 8:32; Eph 2:6-8; Col 1:6).

Grace reigns through rigthteousness!

God is doing something new with us as a church and we are excited about new Life Groups forming and more and more people getting connected, involved and experiencing Kingdom life! On Sunday Alex interviewed some of our ex and present Life Group leaders who testified to the value and importance of believers being part of a Life Group in order to build community, grow in love, discover and nurture gifting and learn how to live the Kingdom life together in this world.

It was a powerful meeting on Sunday and after an awesome time of worship, many came forward with words and impressions given by the Holy Spirit in particular in the area of finances. Even before the message concerning living in God's abundant grace was given, the Holy Spirit was encouraging us to be faithful in giving and to increase our expectation in God as the One who is able to provide beyond our imagination! Hallelujah!

God's vision for the Church

Glory to God!

It was very special to have Holger Genzmer with us two weeks ago as he shared God's Word with us and ministered to us prophetically. After a powerful time of worship, Holger shared a message entitled, "Seated in Heavenly places" in which he encouraged us, to not only live from our new identity in Christ, but to also live from the truth that we are seated with Christ and have authority and power in Christ to bring heaven on earth in our daily lives. Holger prophesied that KLF's prayers have been gathered and that the answers are about to be released in this season. As a prophetic act, Richard, Frances, Alexander and Natalie held up a net under which people could enter under and step into the full blessing of living in Christ (Eph 1:3)! It was a beautiful, powerful and significant time as we sensed God pour out His Anointing over the leaders and the Body as described in Psalm 133. Hallelujah!

Yesterday we had our Vision Sunday, a time for the church family to come together and hear what is on God's heart for us, to understand where He wants to take us and how we believe we will get there, to find out how we are doing and what is being planned for the future. Richard spoke to us about vision and in his message entitled, "Up,in, out", he showed us the following:

  • The Church is not an organisation that exists to fulfil the pastor's vision!
  • The Church is the people of God living to fulfil God's vision for the Church.
  • God reveals the vision but it is up to His people to be faithful stewards of what God has entrusted them with - the church must steward what she has in her hand (see Ex 4:1-5).
  • God's vision for the Church is Jesus! The Church is the redeemed of God on her journey to heaven and is called to be like Christ in this world (Jn 16:23,24; 17:26; 13:14-17, 34; 17:8).
  • Being like Jesus means reaching up (getting to know God more and going deeper with Him); reaching in (loving and serving our church family) and reaching out (influencing the world and reaching the Lost with our faith).
  • Acts 2:42-47 reveals the fruit of a Spirit-filled people - a people devoted to God (UP), a people devoted to one another (IN) and a people devoted to God's salvation purposes (OUT)!
  • God's vision for the Church is the same for the whole Body of Christ, globally and locally.
  • How the vision is fulfilled in the local church is determined by who is part of the church and how each person contributes to the fulfillment of the vision with his or her gifts, passion, personality and energy.
  • What we do must be governed by God's vision for us.
  • How we do that is determined by who we are, the involvement of the people in the church and the relationships that are formed within the local body and the those outside the local body.
  • The uniqueness of any local church is determined by stewardship and not vision.

Living the Kingdom life wherever we are is about being like Jesus in this world: reaching up, reaching in and reaching out on our journey to heaven and faithfully stewarding what God has entrusted us with so that we are a significant part of the fulfillment of God's vision for the Church.

After a short break, Richard spoke to the church about where we are at in terms of changes in our leadership structure, ministry leaders' roles and responsibilities, the situation with our various ministries, the ministries outside the church that we are presently supporting, various meetings, etc., after which Tim gave us a report on KLF's finances.
Frances then shared what we believe is needed to fulfil God's vision for us and looked at ways we can reach up, in and out in the areas of discipleship, pastoral care and the establishing of Life Groups as well as helped us to think creatively about ways that we as a church can reach out to the lost and our local community.
Richard then informed us about the projects we are working on, changes and plans concerning our premises and what we are planning for the coming year in terms of conferences, trips, and special events.
We then had a session for questions and answers.
Natalie then led us into a time for us to reflect on what God had been saying to us in the meeting and asking the Holy Spirit to help us to identify how we can all be a significant part of the fulfilment of God's vision for KLF. As a prophetic response to God's Word to us, Natalie encouraged each one of us to contribute one personal item and place it in a silver bowl to symbolise what Alexander stated as, "The redemption of God's gifts for the purpose of fulfilling His vision for KLF." It was a joyous and fun time of celebration as many made a commitment to be devoted to the Lord, His people and His salvation purposes as they placed their "gift" into the silver bowl.

We praise God for this exciting journey we are on together and for the things He has prepared for us as His people. Hallelujah!

Called by God

Glory to God!

As we continue our journey of discovering what it means to live the Kingdom life, the Lord is helping us understand what it means to be the Church and what He has called us to both corporately and individually. Yesterday Richard shared a message entitled, "God's calling" in which he showed us the following:

  1. The Church is God's called out ones (ekklesia). 1 Pet 2:9-12
  2. We are called out of the kingdom of darkness and into the Kingdom of light to do God's will. Eph 5:8-10
  3. God's calling is both general (that which applies to all believers) and specific (that which applies to each person uniquely). Eph 2:10
  4. God's will or calling for the whole Church is to reach up (to grow in our knowledge of God, to worship Him with our lives and to pray, etc); to reach in (to love and serve one another in the Church and to meet regularly to encourage one another, etc) and to reach out (to be salt and light in the world, to be ambassadors of Christ, to be witnesses to reach the lost, etc).
  5. God's specific and unique will or calling for each believer can be identified according to the following:
  • Gifts: What gifts has God graced you with? Rom 12:6-8
  • Recognition: Do other believers recognise the grace upon your life? Gal 2:9
  • Achievement: Does your gifting produce fruit? 1 Thess 2:19,20
  • Passion: What moves you and inspires you to live for? Col 1:24-29
  • Energy: What energises and motivates you? Col 1:28,29
Be the best version of yourself
in the power of the Holy Spirit! (Rom 12:3)

As the Church fulfills her calling and each part does his or her work, God is glorified, the Church is built up to maturity and the lost are saved! Hallelujah!

Parables of the Kingdom

Photo by Warren Wong on Unsplash

Glory to God!

These past weeks we have been looking at what it means to live the Kingdom life and yesterday Richard shared a message entitled, Kingdom Love. Looking at Matthew 13, we noted how Jesus explains the Kingdom using 7 parables:
  1. The parable of the sower and the seed. 13:3-9; 18-23
  2. The parable of the wheat and the weeds. 13:24-29; 37-43
  3. The parable of the mustard seed. 13:31,32
  4. The parable of the yeast and the dough. 13:33
  5. The parable of the hidden treasure. 13:44
  6. The parable of the fine pearl. 13:45,46
  7. The parable of the fishing net and the fish. 13:47-50
As we went through each of the parables, Richard showed us how one can interpret each parable from God's perspective and man's perspective. From God's perspective:
  1. God sows His Word that we are to receive and understand in order to produce a crop.
  2. God sows the good seed into the world, the sons of the Kingdom.
  3. God sows His Son as the least in the Kingdom of heaven to produce a tree of life.
  4. God sows His Son to influence the world with the knowledge of God and His love.
  5. God sacrifices His Son to purchase us as His treasure.
  6. God sacrifices His Son to purchase us as His fine pearl.
  7. God will sort out those who belong to Him and His Kingdom and those who do not.
From man's perspective:
  1. We are to share the good news of the Kingdom and God's Word.
  2. We are to live as Sons of the Kingdom in this world.
  3. We are to humble ourselves and die to ourselves to gain Christ and His Kingdom.
  4. We are to influence the world with the Kingdom.
  5. We are to sell all to purchase the Kingdom and live the Kingdom life.
  6. We are to sell all to possess the Kingdom and live the Kingdom life.
  7. We are to remain in Christ and be found to be "good fish" when Jesus comes again.
Richard then showed us very practically how we can understand the Kingdom and live the Kingdom life by recognising that God is love and that everything in and about God's Kingdom is rooted in His agape love (see 1 Jn 4:7-11). Looking at the parables from the perspective of God's love we noted the following:
  1. We are to share the good news of God's unconditional love and allow the truth of His love to be rooted and established in our lives so that we produce the fruit of His love.
  2. We are to live lives of love as sons of the Kingdom of God.
  3. We are to lay down our lives for one another to produce a tree of love that people can find rest in as they encounter and experience Christ's love.
  4. We are to influence the world and the Church with God's love.
  5. We are to "sell everything" to possess God's love and live in it.
  6. We are to "sell everything" to purchase this love that is like a fine pearl.
  7. We are to remain in God's love to be found in Him when He sorts out those who belong to Him and those who do not.
Love was sown, so that love is grown.

We praise God for His revelation to us and for teaching us what it means to live the Kingdom life.

The Jerusalem Puzzle

Glory to God!

The Church is the foreshadowing of the new Jerusalem!

In his message entitled, "The Jerusalem Puzzle", Richard gave us God's big picture for mankind, showing us how the puzzle pieces of Scripture all fit together to reveal what God has planned for His people for eternity. Looking at Revelation 21, we took note that the City of God, the new Jerusalem, is in fact the Bride of Christ, the Church and that it has always been God's intention to dwell in and among His people (see Rev 21:2,9&10).
Jesus came not only to reconcile Man to God, but to reveal perfect humanity as God intended from the beginning - Man living in perfect union with God as the Lord's dwelling place. In Christ, believers become the temple of God, both individually and corporately so that the Church becomes a prophetic sign of what God will do when Jesus comes again (see 1 Cor 6:19,20; 3:16,17; Eph 2:15-22). Having been reconciled to God and one another through Jesus, we have peace with God and one another.
Richard showed us that as the City of Peace, the new Jerusalem, we are called to "make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace," so that the manifestation of God's presence in us and with us will distinguish us from the world (see Ex 33:15,16; Ps 133; Eph 4:3). The urgency with which the apostle Paul writes to the church in Corinth, concerning not destroying God's temple by their divisive behaviour, reflects how he lived from an eternal perspective - the revelation of the new Jerusalem, the Church as the dwelling place of God (see 1 Cor 1:10; 3:16,17; 6:1-11).
Richard showed us that true revival is the manifestation of God's presence and power in and through the Church that convicts the sinner, humbles the saints and affects culture and society. For the Church to live in revival to see the lost saved, the sick healed, the oppressed set free and society affected, she must honour God's presence as she makes every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. Hallelujah!

Knowing God

Glory to God!

The apostle Paul's prayer for the Church is that she would receive spiritual revelation so that she would grow in her knowledge of God (Eph 1:17). It is God's will that we should grow in our knowledge of Him and these past 2 weeks the Lord has been encouraging us to encounter Him, experience Him and overflow with Him.

In his message entitled, "I want you to know me," Richard shared how God's desire is that we grow in our knowledge of Him so that we grasp and experience His pleasure (Eph 1:3-9; Mk 1:11; 2 Pet 1:3); our union with Him (Jn 14:9-14, 20); His glory, holiness and mercy (Is 6:1-8); and God's will for our lives (Col 1:9-13; Eph 4:17-24; 2 Pet 1:3). It is as we receive spiritual revelation of God that we can grow in our knowledge of Him and make Him known. Hallelujah!

On Sunday, Frances spoke to us about the essence of Christianity. In her message entitled, "A greater love," we looked at the apostle Paul's prayer for the Church in Ephesians 3:16-19 where he prays that the believers be rooted and established in God's love (Eph 3:17), grasp the magnitude of God's love (Eph 3:18) and be filled with the fullness of God (Eph 3:19).

Frances showed us how important it is to be rooted and established in Christ's love in order to grasp the extent of God's love so that we are filled to the measure of all the fullness of God! We saw how being rooted and established in Christ's love means trusting in His unconditional love for us and being secure in that love despite one's circumstances. It is in God's love that we find acceptance, security and significance despite what we go through in our lives. We then looked at the nature of God's love and noted that His love is merciful (1 Pet 4:8; Pr 10:12; Rom 5:8), sacrificial (Jn 3:16; Jn 15:13) and compassionate (Jn 3:17). Frances showed us that the believer should be motivated by Christ's love (2 Cor 5:14) instead of fear, selfish ambition, need or duty and that it is only as the believer is filled with God's love through revelation, faith and giving that s/he will overflow with Christ's love.

We praise God for revealing Himself to us and helping us grow in our knowledge of Him so that we can make Him known.
