Reconcile!

Glory to God!

We praise God for His faithfulness to us in 2019 and we are excited about what the Lord is already doing among us and showing us for 2020! The word the Lord has given our KLF leaders for 2020 is RECONCILE! We believe the Lord is calling us to be reconciled to Him, to one another and for us to help the Lost be reconciled to God. This is very much in line with our overall vision to reach up, reach in and reach out as we live the Kingdom life. In order to understand God's heart and His reconciliatory purposes in Christ, Richard reminded us and encouraged us to read Psalm 122 and to ask the Lord for revelation of its significance as a prophetic description of the New Jerusalem (see Rev 21), its significance for us today and where God has placed us and for its significance for the people at the time it was written. As part of our 180 days of prayer for 180° reversal and our 21 days of prayer and fasting, Richard is sending a daily devotional to encourage us to pray and to be transformed by God's truth. You can receive the daily devotional on request to pastor@kingdomlife-frankfurt.com.

In preparation for our 21 days of prayer and fasting from the 13th January to 2nd February, Richard shared a message on Sunday entitled, "Being satisfied in God." Exposing the worldly view and lie that only the new satisfies, Richard showed us how we can lose our excitement and enthusiasm in our relationship with God, the Church and others when we stop appreciating what we have; when we imagine the grass to be greener on the other side; when we stop doing the things we did at first; when we disconnect ourselves and when we look to other things to be satisfied. In order to avoid becoming familiar and dissatisfied, Richard encouraged us to be thankful (Col 3:15-17); to keep the one thing the main thing (Ps 27:4; Mat 13:44-46; Phil 3:13,14); to do the things we did at first (Rev 2:4,5); to remain in Jerusalem during the night (Neh 4:22,23; 2 Pet 1:19) and not to fill ourselves with worldly things but to be satisfied with God (Ps 63:4,5). Richard encouraged us to fast in order to challenge our affections and to renew our devotion to God because He longs for us (SS 2:14); we are precious to Him (Ps 139:17,18); He wants to make His love known to us (Jn 17:26); He is faithful even we are not (2 Tim 2:13) and nothing can separate us from His love (Rom 8:37-39). We are excited about our corporate fast and expect these 21 days to be a significant and powerful time with God!

At the beginning of the year, Alexander spoke to us about "Being positioned for favour." Looking at Esther 5:1&2, Alex showed us that it is important that we understand God's timing. As we considered the significance of "the third day" we noted that it is God's timing for favour, fruitfulness (Gen 1:9-13), clarity, fulfilment of dreams (Gen 41), resurrection, restoration and healing (Lk 24:46). Alex showed us that just as Esther was properly dressed in her royal attire, so we must realise that being clothed in Christ means walking in His righteousness and authority as well as being clothed with garments of praise (Is 61:10; Ps 67:5-7). Esther aligned herself to receive favour from the king. Similarly, we are called to position ourselves for favour as we seek the Lord's attention and release heaven on earth.

At the end of 2019, we had a lot of fun as Richard organised a spontaneous play that we performed in the service. Going through 2 Kings 7:1-20, we enacted the story as people played the various characters mentioned in the account. Apart from enjoying discovering hidden talents in our midst, we were excited by the message God was giving us of "Plundering the enemy's camp" in 2020! Richard encouraged us to stand in the finished work of Christ and to take back what the enemy has stolen as we do the works that Jesus did when He came to destroy the devil's work (1 Jn 3:8)! Hallelujah!

Over 40 people gathered for our Christmas Eve service in our new premises in Frankfurt-Hausen for fellowship, worship and a reflection on the significance of the gifts that the three wise men brought Jesus (Mt 2). In his message, Richard shared how the greatest honour we can give someone is to seek to be a reflection of the person we worship. Seeing how the three gifts, gold, myrrh and incense reflected Christ's identity as King, Priest and Sacrifice, Richard encouraged us to see how we honour the Lord in being like Him as kings, priests and holy sacrifices (Rom 12:1; 1 Peter 2:9,10).

In his message on the Sunday before Christmas, Richard spoke to us about Jesus as "The Light of life." Looking at John 1:1-18, we saw that just as Jesus came to his own, full of grace and truth from the Father's side to reveal the Father, and to impart life as He made His dwelling among us, so God's children are called to be like Him. Richard showed us that as we dwell in Christ, in intimate union with the Father, we can make Him known and impart life wherever we are. Richard challenged us not to be a sub-culture like a light shop, but to be life-giving light in the world as we do the works Christ that will cause people to praise our Father in heaven (Mat 5:14-16).

New Walls

Glory to God!

These past two weeks we moved into our new church office and have been getting it ready for our regular meetings during the week. The "Taubenschlag" (Dovecote), as the owners call it, is situated in Hausen (Alt-Hausen 34) and is a 3 minute walk from the station, Großer Nelkenstraße (U 6) with plenty possibilities for parking in the area. As we have consecrated our new premises with prayer, we have sensed God's presence very strongly and believe that the Lord is preparing a place for us to encounter Him and to release blessing in the area. Our prayer is that the Taubenschlag will be a habitation for the Holy Spirit where people encounter God and are transformed by His presence. Hallelujah!

Despite the extremely hot weather on Sunday, we had another wonderful time in God's presence at what turned out to be a pleasantly cool church at Haeberlinstr.3. We changed the location for our meeting because of the road blocks related to the annual Iron Man event that takes place in and around Frankfurt. In his message entitled, "Four Walls", Richard spoke to us from Ezekiel 22:30 where we read that God is looking for someone who would build the wall and stand in the gap for the land. Richard showed us that God is looking for people who will build a wall of covenant (Gen 31:43-53); a wall of identity (Rev 21:12-14), a wall of ownership (Neh 2:11-20; Ps 105:17-22) and a wall of intercession as they learn to stand in the gap for others and travail in the Spirit until the answer is birthed (Rom 8:22-27). In response we spent some time interceding for our city and asking the Lord to anoint the church with a new passion and spiritual fervour for prayer. Just as we were experiencing unusual temperatures in the natural, so we sensed God raising the temperature spiritually so that the Church will bring transformation in the land! Hallelujah!

The Power of Unity

Glory to God!

The power of unity transpired to be the theme of our joint church service with 3 churches on Sunday! KLF, Christliches Zentrum Frankfurt and Quelle des Lebens came together to celebrate God's faithfulness to the churches that meet at Eastsite 15, to declare the unity we have in Christ and to seek God's face for a fresh outpouring of His Spirit to revive the Church and awaken our city! There was a wonderful buzz as over 300 people gathered and each church participated in the meeting. After the service we continued our celebration with food, summer drinks, loads of fun for the children, and spending time together, getting to know the other churches. It was a brilliant day and most likely to become an annual event. We praise God for all the people who invested time and energy to serve the Body of Christ and make this significant day so special.

Two weeks ago we had the privilege of having Edgar Mayer with us again. Edgar is senior pastor of Living Grace Church in Toowoomba, Australia, a church that is living in and experiencing the Holy Spirit and God's renewing work. This year we asked Edgar to spend time with our leaders to encourage them and share principles of leadership in the context of renewal. We had a powerful evening as Edgar inspired us and refreshed us with testimonies and revelation from God's Word. On the Saturday, Edgar spoke to us about how to hear God's voice, followed by a short session of hearing God together. In the evening session, Edgar spoke to us about how God leads us and how important it is that we continue to trust God even when things don't turn out as we expect them to. On Sunday, Edgar shared a message about Christ's compassion and how God uses our emotions to bring about miracles, signs and wonders. You can listen to the messages here:

Hearing God in 5 - 10 minutes
Guidance along the way
Emotions breaking through

We praise God for Edgar and his powerful, sensitive and inspiring ministry and are excited about hearing God afresh, being led by Him and putting love into action. Hallelujah!

Transformation

Glory to God!

Yesterday we launched our new website, logo and look! Having celebrated our 12th anniversary the previous Sunday, yesterday was a significant day as we established who we are as a church and what God's vision and purpose is for Kingdom Life, both in Frankfurt as well as in Butuan in the Philippines. It was very special to have our pastors, Julius and Roszel, from Kingdom Life Butuan with us for this important occasion. In a wonderfully creative way, Alexander and Natalie led the unveiling and explanation of our new website, logo and look. With the help of some of our members and youth, we were shown Kingdom Life's new image on roll-ups, t-shirts, caps, banners and posters and were all given our new KLF welcome package! We had a lot of fun and are excited about the significance of our new image and the transformation that it symbolises for us as a church.

Richard and Julius then explained the vision of Kingdom Life and what it means to live the Kingdom life wherever we are. You can listen to their messages here.  In his message, Richard showed us that God's vision for us individually and as a church is Christ - to be like Him and to do as He did while on earth. As followers of Jesus, all of us are called to imitate Him and to live the Kingdom life that He lived (Mt 3:19; Jn 13:15,16; 17:18; 1 Cor 11:1; Phil 3:10,11; Heb 12:2; 1 Jn 2:6). Jesus demonstrated the Kingdom life as He lived for the glory of God, for the sake of the Church and for the expansion of God's Kingdom - He reached up, reached in and reached out. Likewise, if we are to be like Jesus, we are called to reach up (lives devoted to God as we live from Him, through Him, to Him and for His glory glory forever); reach in (lives devoted to the Body of Christ as we love one another, serve one another, encourage one another, forgive one another, etc) and reach out (lives devoted to bringing God's love and grace to the lost to reconcile them to the Father). We praise God for making the vision and mission of Kingdom Life plain to us so that each of us can be a significant part of the fulfilment of God's vision for us. Hallelujah!

On Saturday, Richard and Julius led a seminar entitled, "Keys to Transformation." A group of us gathered in Leipziger Str. 60 to explore how God wants to bring transformation in our personal lives, in the Church and in our cities. Richard showed us that transformation is both the work of God and man and that transformation can only happen when there is God's revelation and man's repentance. Julius spoke to us about transformation in the Church and shared how important it is that God's people understand the "priesthood of all believers" (1 Pet 2:5) and the need for every believer in the church to serve and be a significant part of the fulfilment of the mission and vision of the local church. Through our discussion it became very clear that transformation can only happen in the church as people are discipled and as people get involved and actively apply what they learn. In our last session, Richard shared how a city is transformed, one person at a time; by recognising who God has placed in one's life; through prayer and intercession; through kindness that leads to repentance; by being uncompromising in essence and flexible in form; by keeping the main thing, the main thing and by doing it together.

12th Anniversary

Ngozi's amazing fruit basket cake

Glory to God!

Two weeks ago, after a very powerful and intimate time of worship, some of our people presented their art work that they had created the day before at our praise and painting workshop led by Karin. It was wonderful to see how our people responded to God with their paintings and how reflecting on the paintings ministered to us. Richard then shared a message entitled, "Living sacrifice" in which we looked at Romans 12:1 and noted what it means to worship God with our lives. Richard showed us that true worship is about not going astray but choosing to do God's will for His glory (see Isaiah 53:6). True worship is living from God, through God and for God as we respond to God's abiding presence, depend on Christ to be in right relationship with the Father and seek to do God's will as we live holy lives that are pleasing to Him.

Yesterday, KLF celebrated her 12th anniversary! With great joy and excitement our church family gathered together to honour God for His faithfulness to us over the past 12 years. We are particularly pleased that the senior pastors of Kingdom Life Butuan (KLB), pastors Julius and Roszel Regala, together with their children, Yrah Lee and Jonkris could join us from the Philippines. They are visiting us for 3 weeks and will be ministering to KLF at various Life Groups and special meetings.

After a powerful time of worship, our Kingdom Kids performed a beautiful flag dance with Danni, followed by Yrah Lee, who ministered to us in song. Julius and Roszel then shared their journey as a church in Butuan with us and testified to God's faithfulness in their lives. You can listen to what they shared here. It was very moving to hear about the needs and challenges that KLB encounter in reaching out to the poor, the orphans and the street kids in Butuan and Julius encouraged us to realise that everyone becomes a significant part in building God's Kingdom as we serve His purposes together.

Richard then shared a message entitled, "God's good work" in which he showed us that the good work that God began in each of us, in KLF, in KLB, in Frankfurt and in Butuan, He will carry on to completion until Christ returns (Phil 1:3-6; Is 9:6,7). We were greatly encouraged by the messages and responded by declaring God's truth over our lives. It is an awesome privilege to participate in the gospel and to be instruments of God's love and salvation purposes locally and across the world! Hallelujah!

André Bronkhorst

Glory to God!

We had an amazing Prophetic Encounter conference with André Bronkhorst this weekend. With great clarity, accuracy and encouragement, André ministered prophetically to many people in the meetings. The combination of André's powerful teaching and revelation of the Father's heart strengthened our faith, renewed our hope and moved us into greater depths of love for the Lord, for one another and for God's salvation purposes. Following are links to the messages shared at each session with a short summary of the content:

Session 1: "Training your senses" - As the Church learns to depend on the presence of God and becomes sensitive to the Holy Spirit through resting, praying, fasting, worshipping and listening, she will be transformed. The Church is called to become mature and discerning as she constantly feeds on God's truth and influences the world with God's presence (Acts 1:8; 10:1-4; Heb 5:14).

Session 2: "Filled with the knowledge of the glory" - Looking at 1 Cor 12:7, André explained the difference between words of knowledge, words of wisdom and prophecy. He then spoke to us about the glory of God and how believers need to have revelation of the Lord's glory in order to be carriers of the knowledge of the glory of God. André encouraged us to pursue the knowledge of the glory of God and to birth it in our "off-season" so that we can produce it in season (Hab 2:14; Num 24:15,16; Ps 19:1-5; Pro 2:4-7; Dan 1:17; 12:4; Mt 13:11; Rom 1:28; 1 Cor 1:5; 2 Cor 2:14; Eph 4:13)!

Session 3: "You will receive power" -  Dependence on the Holy Spirit and recognising His work prepares us for what God has prepared for us (Rom 8:26; Acts 1:8).

Session 4: "Living in the glory" - Looking at the account of Elisha's request to receive a double portion of Elijah's anointing in 2 Kings 2:9-15, André showed us that God wants us to walk in a double portion of His anointing this year as a church - a season of 'more than enough'! André encouraged us not to withhold what we are able to give in order to touch the lives of others with the blessings we, ourselves have received. Just as Elisha and Elijah were assigned to one another, so the Church is called to seek out divine relationships that God has assigned to release blessing and breakthrough. As the Church grows in her understanding of God's grace, she will learn to live in God's glory and be a blessing to believers and unbelievers alike.

Yesterday's meeting was electric. The place was full of hungry and expectant worshippers who joined together with one heart and one spirit to seek God's face and worship Him. Our time of worship in song moved into a powerful time of communion as we received the very life of Christ and participated in His body and His blood (see Jn 6:53-57; 1 Cor 10:16,17; 11:23-26). After his message on "Living in the glory", André prophesied over many people who were visibly moved by the accuracy of the words spoken and the revelation of the Father's heart. He then invited the church to come forward for prayer and to be anointed as we continued in worship. It was another very powerful time as many were filled with the Spirit and God confirmed His Word. The presence of God was so strong that people did not want to leave but enjoyed communion with the Holy Spirit or fellowship with one another over a hot drink and cake. It was a joy to have so many people at the meeting and have such an awesome time with God as a conclusion to our 3 day Prophetic Encounter conference! Hallelujah!

Nehemiah

Glory to God!

Yesterday was the last day of our 21 days of prayer and fasting. We spent the last 3 weeks going without to spend more focused time on God as we reached up, reached in and reached out in prayer. To help us on our journey, we were inspired, challenged and encouraged with a daily devotional from the Book of Nehemiah which you can find here.

It is difficult to describe what God was doing yesterday, starting already during our pre-meeting prayer and continuing throughout the service. The Holy Spirit gripped our hearts. Our prayer time was real, raw and passionate as many gathered before the meeting and the Holy Spirit took over. In the same spirit of abandon, we worshipped the Lord together as He filled the room with His presence and power. It was glorious.

Richard then shared a message entitled, "Principles of Revival for Transformation" in which we looked at the life of Nehemiah and noted the following:
  1. It takes one person of faith to inspire a nation to bring about revival.
  2. Prayer, restoration, unity, reverence for God and His word and obedience lead to revival.
  3. Revival must be sustained for lasting transformation to happen or people return to old patterns of behaviour.
Richard showed us that just as Nehemiah was gripped by a problem, and took hold of God's prophetic revelation and therefore understood God's purpose for his life, so the believer will only pursue God's promises if s/he is truly affected by a problem (see Nehemiah 1:1-11; Ps 29:18; Hab 2:2).

Without a problem and a promise, we will lack purpose!

Looking at the account of Nehemiah, we saw how he was motivated by the problem of his people who were scattered and living in shame and his city, the walls of which were broken and its gates burned down. Consequently, Nehemiah motivated his people to work as one man to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem with the ultimate goal of bringing restoration to the whole nation. We saw how everyone got involved with the short term goal of restoring the walls and the gates that led to the people coming together in unity that would result in the revival that would lead to transformation of a city and a nation! Hallelujah!
Richard then shared a prophetic revelation for Kingdom Life in which the Lord revealed the problem with the Church, His desire for us as His people and His promise to us if we pursue His purposes. The Holy Spirit moved us once again and we responded to God's Word in prayer, repentance and worship as we asked God to break our hearts with what breaks His heart, for the faith to take hold of His promises and the grace to persevere in rebuilding the walls that will lead to revival so that our lives, our church, the Church, our city, our nation and the nations will be transformed.

We praise God for what He did yesterday and what He is setting us up for this year. Hallelujah!

Mature in Christ

Glory to God!

These past two weeks, the Lord has been speaking to us about spiritual maturity. In his message entitled, "Building right foundations," Alexander spoke to us about the need for the believer to have strong foundations in order to grow to maturity. Looking at what it means to build our lives on the bedrock of Christ, he showed us that we must live in relationship with Jesus and align ourselves to Him and His Word (Luke 6:46-49). Alexander also described the evidence of immaturity that include:
  • being dull of hearing
  • lethargy, lack of drive, stagnation
  • taking no responsibility
  • being self-focused
  • not participating or adding value but just consuming
  • lack of discernment
  • instability
  • not keeping spiritually fit
  • disobedience
  • compromise
A life built on the Rock will grow to maturity and withstand the storms of life.

We are excited about new Life Groups that have started and will be starting in the next weeks. These small groups that meet at various people's homes in and around Frankfurt are instrumental in building community and helping our people stay connected, care for one another, grow in their relationship with God, discover and exercise their gifts and learn to be light in the world.

A couple Sundays ago, a KLF team of 10 people were invited to minister at the EFG Frankfurt-Nordwest. Our team led the worship, shared God's Word and ministered prophetically during and after the meeting. It was a very special time as we experienced God's presence and power and many were visibly touched by the Father's love. It was also a powerful opportunity to demonstrate the unity of the Body of Christ in Frankfurt and to witness the spiritual reality of God's anointing upon unity (Psalm 133).

On Saturday evening was another Proverbs and Jazz event at the Awake Café. Alexander and Natalie, together with Guardians of Jazz, hosted a wonderful evening of short input that provided food for thought, excellently played Jazz, and 2 artisitic presentations. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting and provided a great opportunity to connect with others and bring non-Christians into a non-churchy, spiritual environment.

Yesterday was another special time in God's presence as we worshipped and encountered God together. In his message entitled, "Wanted: Dead and Alive!" Richard spoke to us about what it means to be mature in Christ. This is what he showed us:

  • God wants us to become mature. Eph 4:11-13
  • Maturity means being Christ-like. 1 Jn 2:6
  • Christ-likeness means being conformed to Christ in His death and resurrection. Rom 6:2-14
  • God is looking for a people who carry both the death and life of Christ. Jn 12:24-26; 2 Cor 4:10; Phil 3:10,11
  • By faith we put sin to death so that the life of Christ will be revealed in and through us. Rom 6:12,13; Col 3:5-11
  • The road to maturity is perseverance. James 1:2-4
  • Perseverance is remaining unmoved under the influence of God. Eph 4:14
  • You are wanted: dead and alive! Rom 6:11
Those who persevere, who remain unmoved by faith in Christ's death and resurrection, grow to maturity! Hallelujah!
