The Jonah Project

Glory to God!

As the Lord continues to reveal heaven's priorities to us, He is establishing the values He wants us to have. On Sunday, Richard shared a message entitled "The Jonah Project," in which we looked at the story of Jonah and what it reveals concerning God's values and how we need to respond them. Richard showed us that in a society where values are subjective and relative, God wants us to be concerned with what He is concerned about - His values must become our values (Phil 2:21). Just as Jonah tried to run away from God's commission and went through a process of leaving his comfort, surrendering his life to God, dying to self and then devoting himself to God and obeying Him, so the believer is challenged to adopt God's values and respond to them in obedience. More specifically, God revealed His heart for the lost in our city and is calling us to be faithful "as those approved of God to be entrusted with the Gospel" (1 Thess 2:4) so that Frankfurt will be saved. In response to God's Word to us, we have begun The Jonah Project - a journey for us to develop God's heart for the lost and to save our city.  It is exciting to realise that when the Church adopts God's values, she will be united in spirit and purpose to further God's Kingdom. Hallelujah!

Death and Life in Christ

Glory to God!

What a glorious weekend! Focusing on Christ's death and the significance of the cross, we gathered together on Good Friday for a time of worship, prayer, reflection and fellowship. We took the word, cross, acrostically and meditated on the meaning of the cross that represents:

Christ's crucifixion and death. 1 Cor. 2:2
Redemption. Rev 5:9
Obedience. Heb. 5:7-10; Luke 22:39-46; Phil. 2:5-11
Sacrifice. Jn 1:29; 3:16; 2 Cor. 5:21
Salvation. Is 53:3-12

On Sunday we had a powerful meeting as we worshipped our risen King and reflected on His resurrection power. In his message entitled, Raised to reign, Richard showed us the following:

  1. The same power that raised Jesus from the dead and raised Him to the right hand of the Father above all rule and authority has been given to us. Eph 1:18-23
  2. God gives us resurrection power not to just survive in life or fight for holiness.
  3. God gives us resurrection life so we can reign in life through Christ. Rom 5:17
  4. We reign in life when we live in the finished work of the cross, in the fullness of Christ's resurrection life and bring heaven on earth. 2 Cor 5:17; Gal 2:20; Col 3:3,4
  5. We forget what is behind and strain toward what is ahead to win the prize for which God has called us heavenward in Christ Jesus. Phil 3:13,14
  6. We have been raised to reign!
In response to God's truth the whole church ministered healing to the sick in Christ's resurrection power and experienced heaven on earth as people received healing and overcame the power of the enemy. Hallelujah!

Heaven's Priorities

Glory to God!

We are excited about what God is doing in our midst! Lives are being saved, healed, liberated and transformed as people are encountering the Lord in our meetings. As God continues to establish us in our identity, values, organisation, position and purpose, we are seeing Him reveal heaven's priorities to us.

On Sunday we read the entire first letter to the Thessalonians and made a note of what seemed most important to the Holy Spirit in Paul's writing. Seeking to understand Heaven's priorities or what is most important to God, Richard showed us that Paul's emphasis in 1 Thessalonians is the Gospel - the good news of Christ's death and resurrection. We noted how the message of the Gospel is a message of hope, faith and love: hope, because Christ is the hope of glory (Col 1:27); faith, because a righteousness is revealed that is by faith in Christ (Rom 1:17) and love, because God forgives and reconciles to Himself all who trust in Jesus (Rom 5:8; Col 1:19,20). Richard pointed out that the Gospel is not only a message to be received but a life to be lived; a life rooted in hope that produces perseverence; a life rooted in faith that produces repentance and obedience and a life rooted in love that produces the fruit of unconditional love. The Thessalonian church not only heard the Gospel but received it and lived it so that their hope, faith and love became evident to all. Hallelujah!

Wrapped in Christ

Glory to God!

These past few weeks the Lord has been speaking to us about the powerful truth of what we have received in Christ. As God continues to establish us this year in our identity, values, purpose and position, He is giving us spiritual revelation for us to receive, understand, remember, trust in and apply so that we walk in the freedom of sonship. Hallelujah!

In his sermon entitled, "Eternal Life - Be Consumed!" Prem showed us that Jesus is eternal life and that the believer receives eternal life in Christ (John 1:4; 1 John 5:11,20). We saw further that eternal life is not just a life that exists eternally or begins once the believer dies, but that eternal life is a quality of life available to the believer in his or her knowledge of God (John 17:2,3). Prem pointed out that just as Jesus lived in perfect intimacy with the Father, experiencing the fullness of the Divine life, so the believer can participate in the same union with the Father and the Son and experience fullness of life - Eternal life! Hallelujah!

On Sunday, David shared a message entitled, "What are you wearing?" in which he spoke to us about being clothed with Christ. Looking at Luke 4:17-21 and Isaiah 61:1-3,10&11, we saw how Jesus came to exchange the believer's clothing with a garment of righteousness, peace and joy. David challenged us to examine our hearts to recognise whether we rely on ourselves and our circumstances for righteousness, peace and joy. When our righteousness, peace and joy are self-governed, we are not participting in the life of Christ with which the believer has been clothed. The Good News is that the believer has been clothed with Christ and can live by faith in His righteousness, peace and joy and experience fullness of life in Jesus! Hallelujah!
