Heaven's Priorities

Glory to God!

We are excited about what God is doing in our midst! Lives are being saved, healed, liberated and transformed as people are encountering the Lord in our meetings. As God continues to establish us in our identity, values, organisation, position and purpose, we are seeing Him reveal heaven's priorities to us.

On Sunday we read the entire first letter to the Thessalonians and made a note of what seemed most important to the Holy Spirit in Paul's writing. Seeking to understand Heaven's priorities or what is most important to God, Richard showed us that Paul's emphasis in 1 Thessalonians is the Gospel - the good news of Christ's death and resurrection. We noted how the message of the Gospel is a message of hope, faith and love: hope, because Christ is the hope of glory (Col 1:27); faith, because a righteousness is revealed that is by faith in Christ (Rom 1:17) and love, because God forgives and reconciles to Himself all who trust in Jesus (Rom 5:8; Col 1:19,20). Richard pointed out that the Gospel is not only a message to be received but a life to be lived; a life rooted in hope that produces perseverence; a life rooted in faith that produces repentance and obedience and a life rooted in love that produces the fruit of unconditional love. The Thessalonian church not only heard the Gospel but received it and lived it so that their hope, faith and love became evident to all. Hallelujah!
