The Power of Praise

Glory to God!

In these past weeks the Lord has been speaking to us about the power of praise. In his message, entitled, "The power of praise," Alexander showed us the difference between praise and worship and how praise brings us into the presence of God, gets our eyes off ourselves and onto God, is a response to what God has done in our lives, is a weapon against the enemy, produces activity in the spiritual realm, allows God to cut off things in our lives, produces a divine shield around us, positions us for the harvest God has prepared, creates freedom and opens doors that only God can open.

Yesterday, Alexander showed us seven Hebrew definitions of praise in his message entitled, "Seven ways to praise God." Looking at the different words used in Hebrew that are translated, praise in English, we saw how varied our praise to God can be. The Hebrew words yadah (to extend the hand), halal (to shine, to rave), tehillah (to sing with thanksgiving), barak (to kneel down in adoration), zamar (to touch the strings), shabach (to shout loudly) and towdah (to offer a sacrifice of praise) are all translated praise in the English language but carry a rich variety of meanings that help us to understand how we can praise God.

These past two weekends we had two exciting events. Two weeks ago, Karin led a creative session for people to express their worship to God through painting as they were led by the Holy Spirit and on Saturday, Alexander led a seminar on Redeeming conflict and managing frustration that helped people understand the nature of conflict, the reasons for conflict, biblical examples of conflict and how believers are called to be peacemakers as sons of God.

Our senior leaders, Richard and Frances attended Kingdom Faith's leaders' conference in Horsham, England, last week and were able to connect with Kingdom Faith leaders and other leaders from different nations. It was a powerful conference that has inspired and refreshed our pastors and we look forward to seeing how God wants us to continue our relationship with Kingdom Faith.

Living from God

Glory to God!

In this year of transformation, God is helping us to rebuild broken walls so that God's people are restored, revived and renewed in their passion for God's presence, His people and His purposes and reach up, reach in and reach out.

These past two weeks, the Lord has been giving us revelation about nature true worship. Looking at Romans 11:33-12:2, we have seen that true worship is living from God, through God and to God in order to glorify Him forever (11:36). Yesterday, Richard spoke to us about what it means to be a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to God as a life of worship (Rom 12:1). In his message entitled, "Put off, put on!", Richard reminded us that God calls the Church to be holy as God is holy (1 Pet 1:16) and that it is neither the believer's responsibility to be holy in his or her own strength, nor is it God's responsibility to cause the believer to live a holy life. As God's holy people, already sanctified by the blood of Christ and the deposit of the Holy Spirit, the Church is called to live a holy life as she lives from God. Worship is choosing to respond to God and live from Him.
Looking at Ephesians 4:17-5:1, Richard showed us that having received Christ, it is the believer's responsibility to put off the old nature and to put on the new nature, "created to be like God in true righteousness and holiness." As the believer chooses to put off the old and put on the new, s/he chooses to live from God to honour Him. God enables the believer to live a holy life in the power of the Holy Spirit but it is the believer's choice to tap into the Water of life and be aligned to the wind of the Spirit. God has given the believer everything in Christ to live a holy life that honours Him (2 Pet 1:3,4; 1 Jn 2:6). Hallelujah!

As an international church, we have people from many different nations and cultures. With such rich diversity we decided to have our first International Food Festival after the meeting and we ate traditional food from many different countries that people brought for us to enjoy. It was great fun and there was more than enough for everyone. It was wonderful to see our unity in diversity as we celebrated Kingdom culture! Our International Food Festival is sure to become a tradition for KLF.

Developing the core

Glory to God!

This weekend our KLF leaders and coordinators met together for a 3-day retreat in Schmitten. It was an opportunity for us to spend time together, to strengthen our relationships, to seek God together, to be encouraged, to have fun, to receive input from our senior and associate leaders, and to make a fresh commitment to the Lord, His people and His purposes. It was a very special and significant time for us that we believe will have a powerful, ripple effect upon our church family.

Already yesterday afternoon we began to experience some of the fruit of the weekend away as the Lord moved powerfully among us. Most of the meeting we simply waited on the Lord as He ministered to us and touched many lives with His presence and power. Consequently there were salvations, healings and deliverance from the work of the enemy. Hallelujah!

Richard then spoke to us about what it means to worship God as we looked at Romans 11:33-12:2. In his message entitled, "Living from God", Richard showed us that worshipping God means living from God, through God, to God and glorifying Him forever (Rom 11:36). We also noted that living from God means God has to be the centre of one's life and not one's self. When man is at the centre, he creates God in his own image and expects God to respond to his expectations. When God is at the centre, man is conformed to the image of God and responds to God as he lives in God-consciousness and lives from Him. Blessed are those who live from God as true worshippers and are willing to face the consequences of living in response to the reality of God and His Kingdom (see Matthew 5:3-12).
