Time for Breakthrough!

Glory to God!

Yesterday's meeting was very powerful. As we worshipped God, the Spirit of the Lord began to give us a spirit of prayer and intercession that led us to pray for breakthrough in our own lives and in the lives of others. Alexander Blair then shared from Matthew 8:1-4 and showed us how the man with leprosy was able to come to a place of breakthrough in his life. These are the principles we learned:

  • The believer must be prepared to leave the familiar and his or her comfort zone to break through into the new.
  • The believer must be prepared to be bold and uncompromising in his or her pursuit of breakthrough.
  • The believer must not be concerned with popular opinion if he or she wants breakthrough in his or her life.
  • The believer must be convinced of the will of God in order to persevere until he or she experiences a breakthrough.

The Lord then ministered to us as people responded to words of knowledge and were prayed for. Glory to God for His willingness to touch and to heal everyone who comes to Him.

Richard Maybery

Glory to God!

Our Recovering Lost Ground conference with Richard Maybery was excellent! Richard has recently published a book with the same theme and covered some of the key areas he addresses in his book. You can order his book here. Apart from the profound yet very practical teaching, Richard spent a lot of time ministering to us in the power of the Holy Spirit. Many received deep healing and renewed hope as God touched their lives and people took hold of God's truth in a fresh way. Richard is a spiritual father to us and we are so pleased to have someone in our lives who truly walks with us and seeks to build God's Kingdom with us.

Yesterday, as part of our Live C.H.U.R.C.H. series, we looked at what it means to be a community that co-labours. Aris Maniatis and Richard Morschel shared the preaching on the topic as they looked at different examples of men and women of God who co-laboured with God and one another to build God's Kingdom. You can listen to their collaborated sermons here.

Community of Love

Glory to God!

Yesterday we had an amazing meeting. God's presence was thick as we worshipped Him. The Lord  ministered to us as we shared communion together and received prophetic words through various people in the meeting. It was very powerful indeed!

As part of the series on Living C.H.U.R.C.H., Richard Morschel spoke to us about being a community that lives in relationship. Looking at Luke 10:25-37, we noted the following:

  • God created man for relationship. Genesis 2:18
  • Man's relationship to God and man is expressed through love. Luke 10:27
  • Jesus uses the parable of the merciful Samaritan to reveal a shift that needs to take place in the heart of man.
  • The expert in the law's question, "Who is my neighbour" reveals a conditional heart that makes love dependent on the neighbour rather than on himself.
  • Jesus exposes the expert in the law's conditional heart and asks, "Which of these three do you think was a neighbour to the man who fell into the hands of the robbers?", showing that the responsibility to love one's neighbour is upon us and not dependent upon our neighbour!
  • The parable shows us that we must take up our responsibility to love others and that the nature of God's love is unconditional.
  • The nature of love that is demonstrated differentiates the believer from the unbeliever. John 13:34,35
Conditional Love

The conditional heart says,
  • "My love for you is dependent on you and is your responsibility."
  • (Physical) "I will love you as long as you look good and behave according to my expectations."
  • (Emotons) "I will love you as long as you fulfill my emotional needs."
  • (Mind) "I will love you as long as you agree with me."
  • (Will) "I will love you as long as you do what I want."

The fruit of conditional love

  • Fear of rejection, resulting in insecurity.
  • Fear of punishment for not living up to expectations, resulting in stress.
  • Fear of failure for not performing well enough.
  • Fear of disappointing others.

Unconditional Love

The unconditional heart says, "My love fo you is my responsibility and I choose to love you unconditionally."
  • (Physical) "I will love you despite your appearance and behaviour."
  • (Emotions) "I will love you even if you don't love me."
  • (Mind) "I will love you even if you disagree with me."
  • (Will) "I will love you even if you don't do what I want."

The fruit of unconditional love

  • Peace. Security. Confidence.
  • No fear of punishment.
  • No fear of rejection.
  • No pressure to live up to wrong expectations.
  • No fear of disappointing others.
  • No stress to earn love and approval.

The believer is responsible to love others unconditionally and must learn to receive God's unconditional love to produce the fruit of His love in his or her life. Eph 5:1,2; 1 John 4:7-11

We are looking forward to having Dr Richard Maybery with us this week for our Recovering Lost Ground Conference on Friday and Saturday. For more information click here.

Living in Unity

Glory to God!

Two Sundays ago Alexander Blair spoke to us about living God's dream and how God wants us, as the Church, to reveal His Kingdom on earth as it is in heaven. Looking at God's vision for KLF: To be a people who live the Kingdom life wherever we are, we looked at our need to understand the Church's role in the Kingdom and how we need to live according to the priorities of God's dominion. We also looked at how God wants us to be a people of influence and how we need to prepare ourselves in order to make an impact in this world. You can listen to Alexander's message here: Let's live God's dream.

Once a month Alexander Blair is equipping our people with a workshop on the prophetic with the result that many more people are learning to hear the voice of God. On Sunday we had a wonderful time in God's presence as many people brought encouraging prophetic words and impressions from the Father for His people. God is raising us up as His prophetic people so that we will resonate the Father's heart and decree the purposes of heaven on earth. Richard Morschel then spoke to us about being a community that lives in unity, as part of our series on Living Church. You can listen to the sermon here: Are you sticky?
We have seen that to Live C.h.u.r.c.h. is:
  • To be a community that lives Christ-centred lives.
  • To be a community that lives holy lives.
  • To be a community that lives in unity.
  • To be a community that lives in relationship.
  • To be a community that co-labours.
  • To be a community that lives healthy lives.
Looking at Ephesians 4:3 where it says, "Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace," we noted the following:

  • Jesus purchased the unity of the Church with His blood. Eph 2:15
  • Our unity in Christ is God-given and not man-made. 1 Cor 12:12,13
  • As the Body of Christ, we must realise that Christ is not divided and that we must be careful to guard the unity we have received in Him. 1 Cor 1:13; 3:16,17
  • The "bond of peace" is the glue that preserves our unity and keeps us sticky.
  • We remain sticky or non-sticky by the way we see ourselves and others; by the way we listen to one another and by the way we speak about one another.
  • We remain sticky by seeing our lives as a gift to one another. When we think we are more important than others, we become non-sticky! Humility keeps us sticky. Rom 12:3-6; 1 Cor 4:7; Eph 4:11
  • We remain sticky when we submit to one another and listen to one another. When we don't listen in order to understand but are more concerned about being heard, we become non-sticky! James 1:19; Phil 2:1-4
  • We remain sticky when we protect and honour one another when we speak about one another. We become non-sticky when we judge one another rather than the behaviour or sin.

We praise God for teaching us to be quick to guard the oneness we have in Christ as we learn to stay sticky!
