Healing Encounter

Glory to God!

On Sunday we had our first Healing Encounter, a special meeting devoted to praying for the sick and making room for the Holy Spirit to minister to us. We believe that Jesus came to reveal the reality of the King and His kingdom by "preaching the good news of the kingdom and healing every disease and sickness among the people" (see Matthew 4:23-25). In order to continue His ministry, the Holy Spirit was sent by the Father in the name of Jesus for the Church to represent her King and His kingdom (see John 14:26). Therefore, we believe that as we preach the reality of our King and His kingdom, He will prove His word with "signs, wonders and various miracles and gifts of the Holy Spirit distributed according to his will" Hebrews 2:4. Hallelujah!

After a powerful time of worship, Vicky spoke to us about the goodness of God. In her message entitled, "God is good" she showed us that people either question the goodness of God or live by faith in the goodness of God. Either view will determine our walk with God and how we interpret life. Vicky established that God is indeed good and that His purpose for us is not to steal, kill and destroy but to give us life - fullness of life! (see John 10:10). Looking at Jeremiah 17:7&8 and Philippians 4:4-7, Vicky encouraged us to trust in God and in His goodness so that even in times of trouble we can experience the Lord's peace and can rest in His goodness. After hearing her own, personal experience of God's goodness, others were invited to share their testimonies of God's intervention in their lives - stories of salvation, healing, and encounters with the love of God. We then invited people to share words of knowledge and prophetic words after which we prayed for people and made room for the Holy Spirit to minister to us. It was an amazing time! People received healing, salvation and many had  a significant encounter with God. Hallelujah!

We praise God for this journey we are on with Him and for using each part of the Body to glorify His name and further His kingdom!

Not I, but Christ!

Glory to God!

On our journey to revival, the Lord is speaking to us about unity and living by faith in Christ. Two weeks ago, Prem shared a message entitled, "Kept united by God's glory." Looking at Matthew 7:1-5 and John 17:22, we noted how the believer not only has access to God's glory but must depend on the Lord's presence to keep the unity of the Spirit. Prem showed us that spending time in God's presence:

Exposes the log/sin in our lives
Enables us to remove the log throgh repentance
Enables us to gain God's perspective on others
Empowers us to remove the speck in the eyes of others through blessing and intercession
Ensures that the unity is kept as we live in His glory

In preparation for our special healing service on the 25 March, the Lord is equipping us to minister in His power and authority. Having looked at the true nature of faith - receiving God's grace, resting from our works and resting in the Lord's finished work and remaining in Christ, Richard spoke to us yesterday about reigning in life through Christ as we live in Him. In his message entitled, "Living in Jesus' name," Richard showed us that just as Jesus came in the Father's name to represent the Father's nature, authority and power, so the believer is called to represent Jesus by not only using His name but by living in His name (see John 5:43; 10:25; 17:6; John 15)! Looking at Galatians 2:20, we noted how the apostle Paul lived his life in Jesus' name, having been crucified with Christ and living by faith in the Son of God to reveal Him and represent Him for God's glory.

The Lord is teaching us to be completely dependent on Him and to rid ourselves of our self-life so that Jesus is glorified in all that we say and do (see Col 3:17). Hallelujah!

Living by Faith

Glory to God!

These past weeks the Lord has been speaking to us about the unity of the Spirit and His desire for us to live in His fulness. Two weeks ago Tobias shared a message entitled, "One body, one language," in which he showed us that God's purpose has always been to unite mankind to Himself and one another to be His dwelling place. Comparing the account of the building of the tower of Babel in Genesis 11:1-9 and the outpouring of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost in Acts 2:1-13, we saw the power of unity as God intended it, for His glory and purposes in eternity. In response to God's Word we split up into groups to pray in the Spirit and pray for one another.

On Sunday, after another powerful time of worship, we had the privilege of having Kay Lorentz with us who gave us an update on their ministry and family whom we support as a church. It is humbling and sobering to hear the testimony of what Kay and Holger are doing in Cape Town, South Africa and it was important for us to bless Kay and their ministries, Resilient Kids SA and Mercy Aids. We praise God for Kay and Holger who demonstrate true faith in laying down their lives for the needy to give them a voice, dignity, hope and a future!

Richard then shared a message entitled, "Reflections on faith," in which he showed us some important principles about faith that will help us individually and corporately to experience a greater measure of God's fulness in and through our lives. Comparing a torch with a mirror, Richard showed us that we must make a shift from our being the origin to God being the Origin in our lives (Rev 3:14). With God as the Origin of all things in our lives, we saw that faith is not something we produce but a response to God and what He has completed in Christ. Richard showed us that faith is:

Receiving what God freely gives (Mk 10:15; Jn 1:12,13; Eph 1:3)
Resting from human effort and resting in God's finished work (Heb 4:9-11)
Remaining in Christ and living in Him (Jn 15; Col 2:6)

In response to God's Word to us we split up into groups and prayed for one another, receiving, resting and remaining in God's presence. It was a very powerful time indeed and it was wonderful to experience the ministry of the Holy Spirit as we ceased from every human effort and made space for Him to do His work among us. Hallelujah!
