Rodrick Gilbert

Glory to God!

On Sunday we had a visiting speaker from India, Rodrick Gilbert. It was a joy to have him and his lovely family with us.  Rodrick has been used of the Lord to plant thousands of house churches in India and he has a passion for discipleship, reaching out to the lost and seeing them grow to maturity in the Lord. Rodrick spoke to us about the secret to true fruitfulness, explaining that in one's own effort, the believer will not accomplish much but that through true intimacy and comunion with God, the believer will bear much fruit and fruit that will last. After sharing his own testimony, Rodrick showed us what it means to wait on the Lord. You can listen to the message here. This is what we looked at,

God calls us to wait upon Him. Isa 40:31
To wait (Qava) is to bind together by twisting; to weld; to commune; to wait eagerly with patience.
Waiting on God binds us to the Lord in such a way that we experience the union of Spirit to spirit.
The believer's waiting on God becomes the knowing that conceives.
Examples of God's call to wait upon Him:
  • Be still and know that I am God. Ps 46:10
  • God commanded Moses to wait for receiving the Law. Ex 24: 13
  • Will not be put to shame. Ps 25:3
  • Shall inherit the land. Ps 37:9
  • Wait, keep His ways. He will exalt you. Ps 37:34
  • I waited, He inclined His years, and heard my cry. Ps 40:1
  • One Spirit with Him. I Cor 6:17
God renews our strength as we exchange our weakness for His power!
As the believer spends time in God's presence, s/he is anointed and empowered for service and influence. Examples:
  • Moses - Beaming face. Ex 34:29; Mal 4:2
  • Elijah – Stood before the Lord. 1 Kings 17:1, Duet 10:8 (Stand to minister)
  • Jesus – Was led into the wilderness, filled with the Holy Spirit but left in he power of the Holy Sprit!. Lk 4:1 - 4:14
  • Peter's open vision - Acts 10:9-10
  • Paul- In third heaven. 2 Cor 12
Waiting on God means that He will carry the believer on His wings like an Eagle. Examples:
  • God bore His people on His wings. Ex 19:4
  • Stirs up the nest to lift its young on his wings to carry them. Deut 32:11,12
  • The believer's youth is renewed like eagles. Psa 103:5
  • Like an eagle, the believer begins to sense the warm air (Holy Spirit), stretch their wings, lock their bones (remain in Him) and the wind soars them up (carried by the Spirit of God).
After Rodrick's powerful message to us, we responded in prayer as Rodrick prayed for many to be filled and empowered by God.

Fullness of Life

Glory to God!

On Sunday Richard spoke to us about The Road to Fullness of Life. You can listen to the sermon here. This is what he shared with us:

Eternal Life

Jesus came to give us fullness of life. John 10:10
The Greek word for  fullness means superabundantly or beyond the border.
This fullness of life is Christ Himself. 1 John 5:10-12
Eternal life is not just life that lasts for eternity but the quality of life that is the substance of God's eternal nature. Jesus is Eternal Life. 1 John 1:2; 5:11,20
The believer receives fullness of life in Christ. Col 2:9,10
Although the believer has received fullness of life in Christ, s/he must understand the process that needs to take place for him or her to walk in fullness of life.

The process

Revelation
The Spirit is given so we can understand what we have freely received in Christ. 1 Cor 2:12

Repentance
Having received spiritual revelation, the believer must repent (changing of the mind) of old mindset and adopt the new mindset based on God's truth.

Renewal
Having turned away from an old mindset, the believer must allow the revelation to renew his or her thinking completely. Rom 12:2
Fullness of life is revealed and experienced as the believer adopts the new mindset.

Response
As the believer adopts new thoughts based on God's revelation to him or her, s/he must learn to live according to those thoughts.
We recognise whether we are thinking God's thoughts when our attitude, our desires, our emotions, our speaking, our actions and our behaviour are affected. Eph 4:21

We praise God that we can walk in fullness of life and that Christ's life can be revealed in and through us as we travel the road to fullness of life!

After God's Word to us, Sophie, together with the children, presented small gifts to their mums and prayed for them. We then prayed for all our mothers and thanked them for their lives and their sacrificial love.

Ordination

Glory to God!

It was wonderful to have pastor Julius Regala with us from Butuan in the Philippines. On Friday and Saturday evening we had two powerful Breakthrough! meetings of worship and prayer, led by Richard Morschel, Julius Regala and David Rowe. On Friday evening we were immersed in the Father's love and spent an amazing time in Abba's presence. On Saturday, the presence of God was again almost tangible as we worshipped Him and proclaimed His Lordship over our lives. We then spent time together in prayer, interceding for the cities of Frankfurt and Butuan. It was a powerful time of breakthrough as we prayed for leaders, for the spirit of greed and of poverty to be broken, for the lost and for the Church to be revived in our respective cities. We prayed strategically using the following model:

Revelation:
prayer for the unveiling of hearts and minds and for spiritual enlightenment according to God's truth. 2 Cor 4:4; Eph 1:17

Repentance:
prayer for people to turn away from sin and worldly mindsets and to turn to God and His wisdom. Acts 2:38; Mt 13:15; James 3:13-18

Renewal:
prayer for people to be transformed by the renewal of their minds so that they live according to God's truth and wisdom. Col 3:1-3; Rom 12:2; James 3:17

Response:
prayer for people to have the courage to apply and act on God's wisdom in the world. Acts 4:29; James 1:22

On Sunday we had a very significant meeting as we celebrated KLF's 7th birthday and ordained Julius as pastor of Kingdom Life Butuan, establishing him as senior leader of our first church plant in the Philippines. Richard shared what it means to build Kingdom relationships and how God connects people strategically to further His Kingdom. We saw how the apostle Paul built Kingdom relationships and looked at his relationship to Epaphroditus in Philippians 2:25. This is what we learned:

  • Kingdom relationships are built on brotherly love.
  • Kingdom relationships are built on co-labouring as God fellow workers to build the Church .
  • Kingdom relationships are built on co-labouring as soldiers of Christ to reach the lost.
  • Kingdom relationships are built on mutual encouragement through consistent concern for one another.

You can listen to the message "Building Kingdom Relationships" here.

It was a privilege to have Bishop Sony Okpekpe (senior leader of Charity Church, Hanau) with us. Together with pastors Richard and Frances they ordained Julius Regala as pastor of Kingdom Life Butuan (Philippines). After the ordination, many of our people brought very powerful, prophetic words for pastor Julius, KLB and Butuan. You can listen to the ordination and prophetic words here.
