Mike Vickers Cross Walk

Glory to God!

On Sunday we were privileged to have Mike Vickers from England with us. Mike is walking from Frankfurt to Berlin over the next 30 days on his Germany CrossWalk and KLF sent him out on Sunday as the church prayed for him and prophesied over him and Mark Brooks who will be accompanying Mike on his journey. We believe Mike's walk from Frankfurt to Berlin via Hanau, Fulda, Erfurt, Leipzig, Dessau, Wittenberg, Magdeburg to be both evangelistic as well as prophetic in nature. Just as Jesus sent His disciples before Him (Luke 10:1), we believe that God will visit the towns and cities Mike walks through. The presence of God and the flow of the Spirit through His people was amazing on Sunday and we are excited about the spiritual breakthrough Mike's CrossWalk will bring about not only for Frankfurt but also for the nation of Germany!

Yesterday pastor Richard joined Mike for the first day of his walk from Frankfurt to Hanau. They started off from the Römer at the centre of Frankfurt and walked through the main pedestrian area and had many amazing conversations and opportunities to pray for the lost, the sick and those oppressed by the devil. After passing through Frankfurt, they walked along the Main river and were able to speak to over 30 young people who were enjoying the hot weather on the banks of the Main. They were amazed at the openness and willingness to hear the Gospel and the positive response they received from the people. It was a beautiful day but extremely hot. At about 4:30pm Mike and Richard reached the outskirts of Hanau. In the evening Mike ministered at Charity Church in Hanau.

Quote of the week:

"..the Lord appointed seventy-two others and sent them ahead of him to every town and place where he was about to go." Luke 10:1

Fruitfulness

Praise be to God!

Yesterday the Lord spoke to us about bearing lasting fruit and He showed us that just as our spiritual birth and growth are dependent on Christ, so our fruitfulness is dependent on Christ in us. Looking at John 15:1-17 God revealed the following to us:

The significance of lasting fruit
  • We cannot produce lasting fruit apart from Jesus. John 15:4,5
  • Our fruitfulness demonstrates that we follow Jesus and belong to Him. John 15:8
  • Our fruitfulness glorifies God. John 15:8
  • The fruit we produce is to remain. John 15:6
The nature of lasting fruit
  • It is evidence of what we are rooted in and not an objective apart from Christ.
  • Lasting fruit is consistently produced both in secret and publicly.
  • Lasting fruit is not dependent on the soul (mind, heart, will).
  • Lasting fruit proceeds from one's own life.
What is lasting fruit?
  • The lasting fruit we produce reveals we are disciples. John 15:8
  • Love reveals that we are joined to God. John 13:34,35; Gal. 5:22
  • To love consistently and continuously is only possible by remaining in Christ. 1 John 4:7-16

If we are rooted in Christ, we are rooted in love and will consistently produce the fruit of love.

How do we produce lasting fruit?
  • Be rooted in Christ by depending on Him.
  • Be filled with the Spirit.
  • Remain and abide in Jesus and don't allow the self-life to dominate.
  • Make room for God's love to be revealed.

We praise God for showing us how we must depend on Him to be "..oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendour" (Is. 61:3).

This Sunday Mike Vickers will be speaking at KLF and on Monday we will be joining him on the first stage of his Frankfurt - Berlin crosswalk. On Monday evening Mike will be ministering at Charity Church in Hanau (click here for directions).

Quote of the week:

"Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me. I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing." John 15:4,5

Dependence on God!

Glory to God!

Yesterday the Lord spoke to us about two foundational truths that are essential to understand for us to mature in the Lord. This is what God showed us:

Our salvation is God's work
  • Christ is our salvation and our righteousness. Is. 61:10,11
  • Christ is eternal life. 1 John 5:11,12,20
  • Since the believer is joined to Christ, s/he is joined to eternal life and therefore has eternal life.
  • The believer is saved because s/he is united to eternal life. Col. 3:3
  • Christ is our righteousness. 1 Cor. 1:30,31
  • The believer is righteous because s/he is joined to the righteous One.
  • Apart from Christ the believer does not have eternal life and cannot be righteous. Gal. 2:20,21
Our growth is God's work
  • Both our natural birth and our natural growth are God's work.
  • Similarly our spiritual birth and spiritual growth are dependent on God! Is. 61:10,11; 1 Cor. 3:6,7; Col. 2:19
  • Apart from God, we cannot be born again, grow or bear lasting fruit! John 15:4
  • To grow and bear fruit, the believer must be rooted in Christ! Col. 2:6,7
  • To be rooted in Christ is to depend on His work in us and through us by faith. Gal. 2:20
Many believers are not rooted in Christ because of,
  • ignorance,
  • unbelief (Heb. 3:19-4:2),
  • self-effort (Gal. 2:21; Phil. 3:1-3) or
  • dependence on man rather than on Christ (1 Co. 2:12; 3:1-11; Col. 2:18-23).

The Father wants His children to learn to depend on Jesus and to draw from His grace for life.

We praise God for His awesome revelation to us that is rebuilding, restoring and renewing us so that we can in turn rebuild, restore and renew those around us with His grace and power. Hallelujah!

Quote of the week:

"I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels. For as the soil makes the sprout come up and a garden causes seeds to grow, so the Sovereign Lord will make righteousness and praise spring up before all nations." Is. 61:10,11

Rooted!

Glory to God!

As the Lord continues to rebuild, restore and renew us, He is teaching us to be rooted in Him and to live in Him. Yesterday He spoke to us from Colossians 2:6,7 and showed us how, just as the believer received Christ by grace through faith (Eph. 2:8,9) so s/he is to continue to live in Christ by grace through faith. God's grace is given both for salvation and growth in Him. The believer must learn to live from this abundant grace that continuously proceeds from Jesus (John 1:16,17). Faith is dependence on God and it is as the believer depends on the Lord for salvation and growth that s/he will overflow with thankfulness (Col. 2:7).

The reason many believers don't grow is because they are not rooted in Christ, being either ignorant of God's truth, or they don't believe the truth or they are rooted in self, thereby setting aside the grace of God (Gal. 2:20,21)! Those who are rooted in Christ depend on His grace for life and godliness and are strengthened daily by His grace (2 Tim. 2:1; Heb. 13:9).

"It is good for our hearts to be strengthened by grace" Heb. 13:9

Last week we moved into our new office in Frankfurt-Bockenheim. We believe this is a significant step for KLF to influence this city as we are planted and rooted in the centre of Frankfurt. We are excited about sharing the building with TPLF church. God is bringing His people together to establish His Kingdom on earth! Hallelujah!

Yesterday we had another opportunity to minister to the homeless and needy in Frankfurt at our monthly soup kitchen. Around 60 - 80 people attend and are touched with the presence and love of God as they receive spiritual and physical nourishment. We praise God for the lives He is touching through us.

Quote of the week:

"So then, just as you received Christ Jesus as Lord, continue to live in him, rooted and built up in him, strengthened in the faith as you were taught, and overflowing with thankfulness." Col. 2:6,7

Unity

Praise be to our Lord and King!

This past week Frankfurt was blessed to have a 4 day International Kingdom Power Conference with Bishop F. Wale Oke, Pastor E.A. Adeboye, Pastor Ingolf Ellsell, and Suzette Hattingh. The Lord is mobilising His people to get ready for revival in Germany and many Christians from other countries are sensing that God is doing something extraordinary in Frankfurt and Germany. Hallelujah!

On Sunday Pastor Eddy Dück, senior Pastor of Treffpunkt Leben, spoke to us about counting the cost of following Jesus. Looking at Luke 9:57-62 and Eph. 2:8-10, the Lord showed us how to keep our eyes fixed on the goal of finishing the works He has prepared in advance for His people to do, in His wisdom and power. We were greatly encouraged to make a decision to pursue the work God has given us to do and to trust the Lord to empower us to do it.

We are excited about KLF's relationship to TPLF and the spiritual significance of the unity between these two churches in Frankfurt. We believe that God is establishing the unity He purchased by His blood (see Eph. 2:14-22) so that the Church in Frankfurt and Germany will rise up and demonstrate God's wisdom, love and power not only to the world but also to the "rulers and authorities in the heavenly realms, according to his eternal purpose which he accomplished in Christ Jesus our Lord" (Eph. 3:10-12). Our unity and desire to build God's Kingdom in Frankfurt together is expressed in various ways but in particular by our sharing office space, having joint men's prayer breakfasts and this Summer, on the 28th August, we will have a joint open air celebration in Bockenheim. Glory to God!
