Nehemiah

Glory to God!

Yesterday was the last day of our 21 days of prayer and fasting. We spent the last 3 weeks going without to spend more focused time on God as we reached up, reached in and reached out in prayer. To help us on our journey, we were inspired, challenged and encouraged with a daily devotional from the Book of Nehemiah which you can find here

It is difficult to describe what God was doing yesterday, starting already during our pre-meeting prayer and continuing throughout the service. The Holy Spirit gripped our hearts. Our prayer time was real, raw and passionate as many gathered before the meeting and the Holy Spirit took over. In the same spirit of abandon, we worshipped the Lord together as He filled the room with His presence and power. It was glorious.

Richard then shared a message entitled, "Principles of Revival for Transformation" in which we looked at the life of Nehemiah and noted the following:
  1. It takes one person of faith to inspire a nation to bring about revival.
  2. Prayer, restoration, unity, reverence for God and His word and obedience lead to revival.
  3. Revival must be sustained for lasting transformation to happen or people return to old patterns of behaviour.
Richard showed us that just as Nehemiah was gripped by a problem, and took hold of God's prophetic revelation and therefore understood God's purpose for his life, so the believer will only pursue God's promises if s/he is truly affected by a problem (see Nehemiah 1:1-11; Ps 29:18; Hab 2:2).

Without a problem and a promise, we will lack purpose!

Looking at the account of Nehemiah, we saw how he was motivated by the problem of his people who were scattered and living in shame and his city, the walls of which were broken and its gates burned down. Consequently, Nehemiah motivated his people to work as one man to rebuild the walls of Jerusalem with the ultimate goal of bringing restoration to the whole nation. We saw how everyone got involved with the short term goal of restoring the walls and the gates that led to the people coming together in unity that would result in the revival that would lead to transformation of a city and a nation! Hallelujah!
Richard then shared a prophetic revelation for Kingdom Life in which the Lord revealed the problem with the Church, His desire for us as His people and His promise to us if we pursue His purposes. The Holy Spirit moved us once again and we responded to God's Word in prayer, repentance and worship as we asked God to break our hearts with what breaks His heart, for the faith to take hold of His promises and the grace to persevere in rebuilding the walls that will lead to revival so that our lives, our church, the Church, our city, our nation and the nations will be transformed.

We praise God for what He did yesterday and what He is setting us up for this year. Hallelujah!

A people of faith

Glory to God!

During the second week of our 21 days of prayer and fasting we focused on reaching in and praying for our church and the Church in Frankfurt. On Wednesday we had a joint prayer meeting with several churches as part of the prayer week of the alliance of churches in Frankfurt. It was a powerful evening with worship led by our KLF team and prayer for various concerns in our city and in the Church. In this last week of our fast, we will be reaching out and praying for the lost and needy. To help us on our 3 week journey of rebuilding spiritual walls, Richard has been encouraging us with a daily devotional based on the book of Nehemiah where we have been looking at the example of Nehemiah to be inspired, encouraged and challenged. You can read 21 days with Nehemiah here.

Sunday's meeting was wonderful as we worshipped God and proclaimed His goodness over our lives. In his message entitled, "Faith in action", Tobias spoke to us about the power of faith. As "a supernatural force, created in our hearts", Tobias explained how God strengthens our faith by His love (Gal 5:6; Rom 5:5); His Word (Rom 10:17; Eph 1:18); His covenant (1 Sam 17:36; Luke 22:20) and His Name (Acts 3:16). It is by faith that we appropriate the Anointing and receive heaven on earth! Hallelujah!

Prayer and Fasting

Glory to God!

We have completed the first 7 days of our 21 days of prayer and fasting. The focus during these 3 weeks is to reach up, reach in and reach out, respectively. To help us on our journey to transformation, Richard is sending a daily devotional from the Book of Nehemiah in which we follow the example of Nehemiah and how he, together with the people of Israel, rebuilt the walls of Jerusalem. You can read the 21-day devotional here

During this second week of our fasting and praying we will be focusing on reaching in. This means praying for the Church and joining other believers in intercession to rebuild walls in our church and the Body of Christ in Frankfurt. We are excited to be be part of a joint prayer meeting on Wednesday evening at 19:30 at KLF together with many other churches in Frankfurt. It will be a powerful time of worship and intercession as we seek God and stand in the gap together.

Already during our pre-meeting prayer yesterday, we sensed an increase in spiritual dynamic as we worshipped and sought God for the meeting. Prayer and fasting makes us more sensitive to God, more focused in prayer and empowers us to bring heaven on earth! Consequently the meeting was powerful as we worshipped and as God spoke to us through prophetic words and the preaching of His Word. In his message, entitled, "Warring with your prophetic word", Alexander spoke to us about how we need to apply God's prophetic words given to us in our lives so that we will be established (2 Chronicles 20:20). Rather than seeking prophets to get another word from God that we forget, Alexander challenged us to remember the prophetic words given to us and to decree and declare God's Word over our lives (1 Sam 17:41-47); discern and desire the fulfilment of God's Word (Dan 9:1-3) and allow God to develop and discipline us as we depend on Him and His Word (1 Tim 4:14; 2 Pet 1:5-8). We praise God for the transforming power of His Word and that He wants to establish us as we believe His prophets and apply His Word to our lives!

The Journey to Transformation

Glory to God!

We believe 2019 will be a year of transformation! The Lord has been speaking to us about rebuilding spiritual walls and destroying the walls that hinder us on our journey to transformation. In his message entitled, "The Journey to Transformation," Richard spoke to us about the greatest enemy of transformation: apathy! Looking at the example of Nehemiah (Neh 1:1-2:6), we noted how apathy is destroyed in our lives as we inquire (be concerned about others, the Church, the lost, our city and our own walk with the Lord), identify (take responsibility for one's own spiritual walk, the Church and the city), intercede (seek God on behalf of the Church, the lost and the city), and initiate (put faith into action to bring about change).

As a church we will be fasting and praying for 21 days to take time to review, refocus and realign ourselves with the Lord. During these 3 weeks we will be reflecting on Nehemiah and allowing God’s Word to inspire us to rebuild spiritual walls in our own lives, as a church and in our city. If you would like to receive the daily devotional during these 21 days, please write to pastor@kingdomlife-frankfurt.com.
