The River of Life

Glory to God!

These past two weeks, the Lord has been showing us what He has prepared for those who love Him and trust in the finished work of Christ. David Rowe spoke to us about the River of Life, showing us what God intended for man as described in Genesis, how God will restore what was lost in its fullness as described in Revelation and how Jesus is the way to fullness of life. In his encouraging message, David described how the believer has access to the River of God that brings healing and fullness of life through Christ (see Genesis 2,3; Revelation 22; Psalm 1). You can listen to David's message here.

On Sunday Prem Christopher spoke to us about how God revealed His plan of redemption to Moses and how Jesus took the punishment mankind deserved to heal man from going astray (1 Peter 2:24,25;), to give man access to the Father (Hebrews 10:19,20) and to cleanse man from a guilty conscience (Hebrews 10:22). You can listen to Prem's message, entitled, Show Me Your Glory, here.

We praise God for what He has done for us to give us access to life in abundance! Hallelujah!

The Purpose of the Cross

Glory to God!

Yesterday we spent some time at the beginning of our meeting praying Psalm 36:7-9 with and over one another, feasting on the abundance of God's house and drinking from His river of delights. We then worshipped together as the Lord ministered to us, filling us afresh with His unfailing love and embracing us as we found refuge under the shadow of His wings.

Richard then spoke to us about what Jesus fulfilled through His death and resurrection, showing us that God's purpose was to reconcile man to be part of the Kingdom over which He rules, to be part of the family of God which He loves and to be the temple He desires to dwell in. You can listen to the message here. Looking at Isaiah 53:4-6; Ephesians 1:22,23 and 2:19-22, we noted the following:

The sin of man that deserves the punishment that Jesus took upon Himself is man's disobedience (disregard for God's authority), self-centredness (separation from one another) and independence (living apart from God's presence). Isaiah 43:4-6
Jesus went to the cross to restore God's authority over man, to restore man to one another and to restore God's presence with and in His people. Therefore God placed Jesus above all things to be the Head (authority) over His Body (union) and to fill the Church with His presence (fulllness). Eph. 1:22,23
Consequently, those who are in Christ, are a people under God's authority, are members of one household and are the dwelling place or habitation of God. Eph. 2:19-22
The enemy tries to distort authority, fatherhood and God's supernatural presence so that man won't value true godly authority, true godly fatherhood and God's real presence!
Jesus purchased man for God so that the Church would be governed by God's authority, would live in the unity Jesus bought with His blood and honour the presence of God within her. Rev. 5:9,10

We praise God for His revelation to us and for the glory of the Church, fulfilled through Jesus Christ! Hallelujah!

Set apart for God and man

Glory to God!

Yesterday's meeting was awesome! As we worshipped God "in the spleandour of his holiness" (Ps 29:2), God took over the meeting and began to minister His presence and power to us. Many were touched by God and experienced His manifest presence. Hallelujah!

God was confirming His Word as Richard Morschel spoke on The purpose of holiness and showed us the following:

  • God is holy and beyond compare. Isaiah 40:25
  • God's holiness is His otherness that is beyond creation. Isaiah 55:8,9
  • God's holiness is His perfection, wholeness and purity that is inaccessible to sinful man. Romans 3:23
  • Through faith in Christ, the believer is joined to God and therefore joined to God's holiness. 1 Corinthians 6:17
  • The Church was birthed in holiness as the believers were filled with the Holy Spirit and received the gift of holiness. Acts 2:38-47
  • Just as the instruments and articles of clothing in the temple were made holy through the sprinkling of blood and the anointing with oil, so the believer is made holy through the blood of Jesus and the infilling of the Holy Spirit. Leviticus 8:30
  • God's people are therefore holy and set apart for the Master's use, having been changed from being "common" to being holy. Ezekiel 22:26; 2 Corinthians 6:14-7:1; 2 Timothy 2:21
  • The gift of holiness is for the believer's sake so that s/he can enjoy intimacy with God and fulfill His purposes for him or her. 1 Peter 2:9,10
  • God commands His holy people to live holy lives for His glory and for the benefit of others. 1 Peter 1:14-16; Ephesians 4:24; Hebrews 12:14; Romans 12:1,2
  • Those who live to become holy for their sake become self-righteous, critical and legalsitic. Matthew 23:5,6
  • Those who live holy lives because they are holy, live to please God and impart God's otherness to others. Colossians 1:10; 3:12-14
  • Holiness is not a process. Rather, it is the believer's choice to put on Christ. Colossians 3:1-14; 1 Peter 1:14-16
  • Jesus lived a holy life by revealing God's otherness in His dealings with man. John 8:1-11
  • Likewise the believer is called to reveal the otherness of God as s/he produces the fruit of holiness. Galatians 5:22
  • The purpose of holiness, therefore, is not so that the believer looks good before man for his or her sake, but to reveal and impart God's otherness for God's glory and for the benefit of others.
  • The purpose of holiness, as seen in the temple, is to bring man in touch with God.
  • Likewise, the Church, as the temple of God's holiness, is called to bring man in touch with God for the Lord's glory and the benefit of man. 1 Corinthians 6:19,20; Ephesians 2:21,22; 5:8-10

The believer is chosen in Christ to live a holy life.

In response to God's Word, believers were invited to the front to be anointed with oil to establish and proclaim the truth of their holiness in Christ. Hallelujah!

Good News!

Praise be to God!

The Lord is continuing to give us spiritual revelation from Isaiah 61- the Lord's Word to us for 2010. In the past 2 weeks God has been speaking to us specifically about His favour and how He wants the Church to experience His joy as we walk in the truth of what Jesus has done for us.

Yesterday the Lord showed us the difference between an "outer court mentality" and an "inner court mentality" as we learned how believers approach God either with an Old Covenant mindset or New Covenant mindset.

  • An "outer court mentality" lives from the outside in and tries to change behaviour in order to be righteous - i.e. living a holy life TO BE righteous.
  • An "inner court mentality" lives from the inside out and realises by faith what one has received and behaves accordingly - i.e. living a holy life BECAUSE one is righteous!

The Lord then revealed to us the significance of the OT Priesthood and how it forshadowed Christ's Priesthood and the requirements for entering the Holy of Holies - Righteousness, Holiness, and the blood of Redemption.

Since the believer has given his/her life to Christ and has in turn received Christ's life (2 Cor. 5:21) s/he has been made holy, righteous and is redeemed and therefore has access to the very presence of God (Hebrews 10:19-22)! Christ is our righteousness, holiness and redemption (1 Cor. 1:26-30). God has made every believer a holy priest (1 Peter 2:9) and appointed (Isaiah 61:6) and anointed us (Isaiah 61:1-3) to fulfill the responsibility of a priest. God has made us competent as ministers of this new covenant (2 Cor. 3:4-6). Hallelujah!

The believer has received Christ's righteousness, holiness and redemption and has been anointed and appointed to be God's holy priest.

We praise God for continuing to give us spiritual revelation, understanding, wisdom and knowledge so that we can know Him more and make Him known more!

Quote of the week:

"I delight greatly in the Lord; my soul rejoices in my God. For he has clothed me with garments of salvation and arrayed me in a robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom adorns his head like a priest, and as a bride adorns herself with her jewels." Isaiah 61:10

Redemption

Praise be to God!

The Lord is giving us greater depth of insight into His vision for KLF this year and beyond. Meditating on Isaiah 61:1-3, He is showing us the true nature of His redemptive purposes which the Father fulfilled in Christ (Mark 10:45) and has anointed the Church to continue (Acts 1:8; 2:3). Jesus, the Anointed One, not only paid the price by dying on the cross to redeem mankind from slavery to the kingdom of darkness, but His whole life was redemptive. As Jesus walked on this earth, He lived to reveal the Father's redeeming heart (John 13:14-17; Acts 10:38). All Christ's words and actions were a revelation of the Father's heart to bring man back to the Father and to bring mankind into fullness of life. Jesus demonstrated a redemptive life by laying down His life for others to come into fullness of life. Likewise the Church has been anointed to live redemptively by laying down her life for others in order to bring them into fullness of life (2 Cor. 5:20,21; 1 John 3:16).

The Church has been anointed to be redemptive!

The Father showed us that it is only as the Church receives revelation of His passion to redeem man to Himself that she will live redemptively and reveal His heart as Jesus did.

This week we are looking forward to having Mike Vickers with us who has a powerful ministry walking across nations with a cross, impacting countries with God's presence and sharing God's love with those he encounters on the way. For testimonies about his ministry click here...

Quote of the week:
"All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and gave us the ministry of reconciliation." 2 Cor. 5:18
