The Gate of Hope

Glory to God!

Yesterday there was great joy in the house as we worshipped the Lord and as He revealed His heart to us through prophetic words of encouragment. The Lord then spoke to us about the Gate of Hope that takes us into the realm beyond. The reality of God's unchanging nature and the certainty of His promises give the believer hope that enters in beyond the curtain where Christ has gone before us (see Hebrews 6:17-19). Hope enters the realm of the immeasurably more than we can ask or imagine (Ephesians 3:20).

We then looked at different examples of people who carried a spirit of hope despite hopeless circumstances. Looking at the lives of Abraham (Romans 4:18-21), Nehemiah, and Christoph Columbus (in the film, 1492), we noted how these men had hope against all hope by staying focused, remaining encouraged and trusting God. The Lord then showed us that whereas His Kingdom is a Kingdom of hope, the kingdom of darkness is a kingdom of fear. Hope expects a positive outcome. Fear expects a negative outcome. The enemy seeks to cause us to lose hope so that we are bound by fear. He does that by distracting the believer (Neh 2:18-20); discouraging the believer (Neh 4:1-3); sowing doubt in the believer (Neh 4:10) and causingdespair that is rooted in fear (Neh 4:11,12)!

God wants us to be a people of hope who overflow with hope so that the world will recognise the hope we have (see 1 Pet 3:15). As a people filled with the Hope of Glory we can always hope even in hopeless situations.
