Yesterday we celebrated the glorious resurrection and victory of our Lord Jesus Christ. The presence of our risen King was tangible as we worshipped Him and partook of His his body and blood together. The Lord then spoke to us about His passion for His creation and what He has put in place for man to be reconciled to Him. The Father showed us that He has placed His Son as our perfect High Priest at His right hand so that man can draw near to Him in worship and serve the living God. Looking at the letter to the Hebrews we noted the following:
- Jesus is our perfect High Priest who meets all our needs. Heb. 7:26-28
- Jesus is our compassionate High Priest who is able to sympathise with us. Heb.4:15
- Jesus is our permanent High Priest whose ministry lasts forever. Heb. 7:15-19
- Jesus is our faithful High Priest who is always merciful and never gives up on us. Heb. 2:14-18
- Jesus is our interceding High Priest who lives to stand in the gap for us. Heb. 7:24,25
- Jesus is our powerful High Priest who is able to save us completely. Heb. 7:25
- Jesus appears for us in God's presence in heaven. Heb.9:24
- God has provided the blood and a perfect High Priest so that we can draw near with confidence and complete trust in Christ's finished work and His perfect priesthood. Heb. 10:19-25
"Therefore, brothers, since we have confidence to enter the Most Holy Place by the blood of Jesus, by a new and living way opened for us through the curtain, that is, his body, and since we have a great priest over the house of God, let us draw near to God with a sincere heart and full assurance of faith, having our hearts sprinkled to cleanse us from a guilty conscience and having our bodies washed with pure water. Let us hold unswervingly to the hope we profess, for he who promised is faithful." Hebrews 10:19-23
