Connecting

Glory to the Sovereign Lord!

Last week Thursday, Suzette Hattingh (Voice in the City) organised a prayer meeting for the Church in Frankfurt to join together in prayer for our city. The meeting was very powerful and many church leaders attended and voiced their concern for not honouring one another which led to a time of genuine reconciliation and forgiveness between the German leaders and the international leaders. The spirit of unity was tangible and we believe this was a prophetic statement of what God is doing in our city and in this nation. Hallelujah!

Yesterday the Lord spoke to us about how we need to respond to the vision He has given us as a church. He showed us that when He speaks to us we have a choice as to how we respond to Him. Basically there are 3 attitudes we can have:

  • Attitude #1: I know better - this person is above the Word. He judges the Word, is self-righteous and usually ignores the Word or revelation given to him.
  • Attitude #2: I know it already - this person is on the same level as the Word. He has a "familiar spirit," thinking he knows everything already and therefore relates God's Word only to what he already thinks he knows.
  • Attitude #3: I want to know - this person comes under the Word. He understands that he only "knows in part" and that when God speaks to him, the Spirit of God wants to reveal "the deep things of God" to him that are only revealed to those who submit to God's Word.
  • The apostle Paul had the attitude of "I want to know." Phil. 3:10
  • Paul wanted a greater revelation of Jesus and the Lord's purpose for him. Phil. 3:7-14
  • Paul lived to know Christ more and "to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of (him)." Phil. 3:10, 12
  • Paul received a revelation of the person of Jesus, the purpose of Jesus for Paul and the passion of Jesus for mankind. Acts 26:15-18
We need revelation of the person of Jesus to receive revelation of His passion which will compel us to fulfill the revelation of His purpose for us to redeem mankind.

The vision God has given us is based on these 3 principles:
  • We need revelation of who God is - His person: the "Sovereign Lord" Is. 61:1
  • We need revelation of God's purpose for KLF: "anointed...to..." Is. 61:1-3
  • We need revelation of God's passion for mankind: "...to bind up..to proclaim freedom..to release..to comfort..to provide..to bestow.." Is. 61:3
This week we are staring our Life Groups which form an essential part of a growing church. They help us connect with one another so that as we pursue the Kingdom Life together, we form genuine relationships, we care for one another, we grow together and we influence the lives of others. KLF has Life Groups that meet at various homes during the week in and around Frankfurt. For more information contact Alexander: lifegroups@kingdomlife-frankfurt.com

On Saturday we are having a joint men's prayer breakfast when the men of KLF will be getting together with the men of two other churches for breakfast, fellowship, teaching and prayer.

Quote of the week:

"I was not disobedient to the vision from heaven." Acts 26:19

KLF Vision Day

Glory to God!

These are exciting times! The Lord has given us a wonderful vision for 2010 and yesterday He showed us what a vision is; what one does with a God-given vision; what God's vision is for KLF and how we are to respond to His vision for us. This is what He showed us:

What is a vision?

  • A vision is a God-given promise that is a revelation of His heart.
  • To truly understand God's vision for His people, believers must have a revelation of God's heart - not only understanding what God wants to do but also why He wants to do it!
  • God's Word to us is always a revelation of His motivation.
  • Jesus is the revelation of the Father's love so that man would know God's heart and ways and not only His works. John 3:16; Heb. 3:9,10

What does one do with a God-given vision?

  1. God's people take hold of the vision. Joshua 1:1-5; Heb. 12:2; Phil. 3:12
  2. God's people count the cost and the conditions for the vision to be fulfilled. Joshua 1:6-9
  3. God's people prepare themselves. Joshua 1:10,11
  4. God's people devote themselves. Joshua 1:12-18
  5. God's people scout the land and face the facts. Joshua 2:1; Rom. 4:19,20
  6. God's people cross over with God's presence. Joshua 3:1-4
  7. God's people watch God's vision unfold. Joshua 6:15,16,20

What is God's vision for KLF this year?

  • Isaiah 61 and Acts 2:42-47. Rebuild. Restore. Renew.
  • God wants to make us whole to bring wholeness to others for His glory.
  • Isaiah 61:3 is the vision: To be "a planting of the Lord for the display of His splendour."
  • For the vision to be fulfilled, God has given us Acts 2:42-47 so that as He rebuilds, restores and renews us, we become rebuilders, restorers and renewers as we devote ourselves to the Word, fellowship, communion, prayer and the sharing of our lives with one another.

Rebuild. Restore. Renew.

How are we to respond to God's vision for us?

  1. We need to take hold of it
  2. We need to count the cost
  3. We need to get ready
  4. We need to devote ourselves
  5. We need to scout the land
  6. We need to cross over
  7. We will see the vision unfold

We praise God for His awesome Word to us that is the vision He has for us this year. As we apply God's Word to us we will see the vision realised! Hallelujah! Since God is going to rebuild, restore and renew us individually and corporately we will be focusing on "Body building" by offering new Life Groups for people to connect with one another as well as seminars and events that will help us grow together for God's purposes and glory.

This Saturday KLF's worship team will be supporting another exciting Arise Shine meeting with Suzette Hattingh and Gayle Claxton of Voice in the City.

Quote of the week:

"They will be called oaks of righteousness, a planting of the Lord for the display of his splendour." Isaiah 61:3

Remaining in God's presence

Glory to God!

What a brilliant start to 2010! The Lord is teaching us to live in His presence and this past Sunday He spoke to us about what it means to remain in Him. This is what He showed us:

  1. Those who believe in Jesus are completely immersed in God. Gal. 3:27; John 14:15-25
  2. Since the believer has been immersed in God, he is to remain in Him. Col. 2:6,7; John 15:1-17
  3. To remain in God is to remain in His nature. John 15:9,10; 1 John 4:10-16
  4. To remain in God the believer must continue to be obedient to God. John 15:10
  5. Obedience keeps us in God's presence. John 8:29; 15:10
  6. Obedience does not lead the believer into God's presence - repentance does! James 4:7-10
  7. Revelation of God's presence and obedience to Him leads to overflow and fruitfulness. Phil. 2:1-11; John 15:4,5

God is love. Whoever lives in love lives in God, and God in him. 1 John 4:16

This past Sunday we ordained KLF's new youth leader, Jason van der Berg. We are excited about God's raising sons and daughters to take the next generation further with Him. Hallelujah!

On Sunday morning a number of us attended the "Allianz Tag" (alliance day) meeting to be part of what God is doing with and through the churches in Frankfurt. It is exciting to see the Church having joint meetings and supporting a common project to reach the city of Frankfurt.

Next Sunday will be our KLF vision day - an exciting opportunity to hear what is on God's heart for KLF in 2010!

Quote of the week:

"Remain in me, and I will remain in you. No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me." John 15:4

Family Time

Glory to God!

Yesterday we had a wonderful time together as a church family as everyone participated in the meeting.

God's Word to us was brought through the children's talk as the Lord spoke to us about the Gift of the Holy Spirit and how the believer can only truly experience God if s/he opens the Gift and tastes and sees that the Lord is good (Psalm 34:8)! After encouraging the children to enjoy the fellowship of the Holy Spirit every day in prayer and reading God's Word, they were also given a key to fully experiencing God's presence and power by "risking for His glory" - stepping out to do what only God can do. We then asked everyone in the meeting with a need for healing to go to the front so that the children could lay hands on them and heal them. After the children laid their hands on the sick, those that could test whether they had been healed did so and testified to feeling significantly better as well as to being healed! We praise God for His faithfulness and we give Him all the glory for His wonderful presence and power in our meetings.

After witnessing God's power at work through our young Kingdom builders, we spent time with an "open mic" for anyone to publicly give thanks to God for His work in their lives in 2009. This precious time when our people testified to God's faithfulness, God's miraculous healing, provision and restoration has been included on our weekly podcast which you can listen to here...

We are looking forward to an exciting 2010 as we continue to move with God! On the 17 January we will be having our KLF Vision Day - a time to hear what's on God's heart for KLF for 2010 and how we as a church will respond to His direction.

Quote of the week:

"Taste and see that the Lord is good." Psalm 34:8

Release!

Glory to God!

This past week has been very interesting and exciting! The men met at McDonalds for our weekly McPrayer and one of our guys came overflowing with revelation concerning the spiritual significance of the temple as described in Hebrews 9. We were greatly encouraged by the insight God was giving us through him. During our prayer time one of us began to prophesy over another guy, who was consequently greatly encouraged.

"But everyone who prophecies speaks to men for their strengthening, encouragement and comfort." 1 Cor. 14:3

Our prayer meeting last Tuesday was awesome. Even though we couldn't go into the room where we would normally pray, the Lord blessed our time together as we met in front of the building and prayed and worshipped! We believe it's God's call for us to begin moving out into the streets more and more.

The ladies met on Wednesday for their weekly meeting at Starbucks and Impact met again for their weekly meeting. They had a great time and are being taught to prophesy and to exercise this powerful gift on one another, to equip them to be used wherever the Lord wants to speak into the lives of those they encounter at school or in the street etc. (1 Cor. 14:24,25)!

Over the weekend we were blessed with meeting Munday, Jennifer and Samuel Martin for the first time. The Lord had prompted Munday to contact us from the United States and so we got together as they spent the weekend in Frankfurt on their way back to the U.S. on their return trip from Israel and invited them to visit our meeting on Sunday. The Lord encouraged KLF with a powerful prophecy that was given to Munday for us as well as through the message/teaching Munday brought, confirming God's will for us to be on the streets, using the gifts of the Holy Spirit to reveal God's heart to the people. We concluded the meeting with Munday ministering to us with prophetic words and prayer and we were delighted to have one of our members sing in the Spirit over us as the Lord touched the lives of our people in a very special way. Munday is clearly anointed to do prophetic evangelism and we are planning a week together later on this year to team up with Jennifer and him to reach people on the streets of Frankfurt with God's love and power. You can check their website and ministry here: http://www.gotthejoy.com/

This past week has clearly been a week of prophecy and the Lord releasing our people in this powerful gift that builds up the church and convicts the unbeliever as God speaks through His people to reveal His heart to those whom He longs to encourage and touch. Many of us are being released in this gift and so we are planning some training sessions on the prophetic to teach, train, equip and release our people to encourage one another and to reach the lost with the gift of prophecy. We praise God for blessing us so richly with the gifts of the Spirit and the people to equip us!

The Lord is fulfilling the vision that has been given to Kingdom Life to raise up a people after His own heart who reach the lost and make disciples with the presence, power and love of God as they risk for His glory! Thank you Lord for your faithfulness!

Quote of the week:

"It was he who gave some to be apostles, some to be prophets, some to be evangelists,
and some to be pastors and teachers, to prepare God's people for works of service.." Ephesians 4:11, emphasis mine
